Traded in 2017 MKZ Select for 2020 MKZ Reserve

I traded in my 12.7 second '17 MKZ that was my favorite color burgundy velvet for a brand new 2020 pearl metallic white. Both have the 3.0 AWD twin turbo but the new one has every option except for heads up display and panoramic roof, I did get the moonroof though. I wanted to keep the '17 but the MKZ is dead after 2020 so I wanted to get one brand new while I could. A friend of mine bought my MKZ so I know it has a good home.

I seriously wanted the copper burgundy that closely matches the one I had but you can't get the terracotta bridge of weir leather with that color and I'm sick of plain black leather, it's nice but didn't want it this time. So white was it, the Revel Ultima audio system is both awesome and horrible all at the same time. If you have a very good recording it sounds competition levels good, playing the demo that is included in the system blows your mind, then you hear music on the sat radio and it's bleh... too much sounds over processed. Music off the iPod sounds mostly awesome. Is it worth the extra cost with the luxury package, yes.

The adaptive suspension, seems no different than without, the adaptive jewel looking headlights are cool and seriously light up the road, the lane keeping is creepy, the adaptive cruise control is the same as I had in my 2013 Taurus Limited except it can stop and go, the massage seats make the seats a little less comfortable than those without, same as in the Taurus except the massage is a lot better in the MKZ, it does as described. The proximity sensors all over the car can drive you crazy when you park in your garage.

There is a vibration while driving at 65 plus that feels like a wheel is out of balance so that needs to be checked out and the rear window privacy shade rattles. I hit 1000 miles this week after 5 weeks and mileage is averaging 23, power is excellent of course but I did have boost cut occur once which is very un-nerving. I don't know if I'm going to tune this one or not, the plus of the tune in the last one was an increase in mpg as well as performance, on vacation last year we averaged 32mpg for 500 miles going 70mph.

I love the car so far, the dealer better be able to figure out the vibration, I HATE vibrations! ?

Enjoy it!  I turned in my 2017 3.0 for a 2020 as well.  Same reason: there won't be any more, although I did come very close to getting a Genesis G70 3.3 Sport.   I have the same color interior, which we love.  I still don't know why they restrict exterior/interior color choices.  If I want a green plaid interior with purple exterior, that's my business.  Back in the day, you could get whatever you wanted, no matter how hideous.  Mine is Silver Radiance.  I've had too many white Lincolns.  Silver was never a favorite of mine but this is different.

I hope they can cure your vibration easily.  I've had it up to 90 and it's vibration-free.

Exactly! I didn't want white or silver either but the copper burgundy comes with cappuccino or black, I'm sick of both so in order to get the interior I wanted I had to go white, the fact they limit your options boggles my mind, they would sell more if people could choose what they like. So last time was for the exterior, this one the interior, the most important was the 3.0 TT AWD. As for vibration, these have followed me from a few cars, it's like it skips every other car. I'm sensitive to it and in this car it's either a multiple wheel balance or flat spots from sitting for more than a few days, in hot weather the condition is to a much lesser degree. I'm making an appointment this week so we'll see.

Hi Loki. Congratulations! She looks great!

Best of luck and many happy, safe miles!

EDIT - Loki, do you know there is a button on the dashboard to manually turn off/on the "proximity sensors" on an as-needed basis?

I had a 2017 MKZ Select 3.0 AWD that also had that vibration at exactly 64 mph. My solution - seriously - was to go either 63 or 65 mph, and there was no vibration. It was that mph-specific in my car!

As much as I LOVED that car - and I did!  - when the lease ended in April of this year I just didn't want to get the same car again. I ended up, and am very happy with, a 2020 Dodge Charger AWD.

  • 3 weeks later...
  • 1 month later...

I just purchased a 2020 as well

It is my first MKZ & 1st Lincoln since I had 2 of the Mark VII LSC....which was a very fine car

So far really like the MKZ.  It also has the 3.0 & AWD

IS there a way to have the radio playing without turning on the ignition.

On my 2017 Explorer Limited, I can just push the radio on/off button & it will play for 30 minutes

Looking for the same thing on the MKZ

using the picture above from fusionff……….the only power button I have is trying to start the vehicle.....this only gets 10 minutes or so of playing the radio before it kicks off

on the explorer this works too, by there is an on/off button for the radio that I can press to get 30 minutes of radio playing

Hi bnewt. The audio power button I believe "drolds1" is referring to is right next to the audio volume knob in the photo above. In the MKZ, you will get 10 minutes of play before it shuts off to save battery power.

You can also press the Start/Stop button twice (with foot off the brake) to put your MKZ in "Delayed Accessory Mode", as kramf stated. This will also give you ten minutes of play. Pressing once tuns on the ignition and other systems, pressing twice puts the system into "Delayed Accessory Mode".

Either way, you will get 10 minutes of play before the battery saver system turns the power off. You will need to press buttons again to resume play.

It may also help if you take a short cruise through some areas of your Owners Manual to learn all the features your MKZ has. Otherwise, you will probably miss quite a few.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

That's exactly it.  I guess I should have made it more clear but I thought it was understood since we were talking about the audio system and there's no other 'Power' button.  I've never heard the Start/Stop button referred to as a power button.

Hi Art. I knew exactly which button you were referring to. ?

But could also tell from bnewt's last reply that he is not yet very familiar with his new MKZ and did not know. So I just figured a little elaboration might help. ?

Seems like @bnewt has two inquiries.
How to turn on the radio without starting the vehicle is settled. There are two ways as elaborately described by @bbf2530

How to remain ON for longer than 10 minutes? Not sure about that. FORSCAN??

Nonetheless, the longer any vehicle accessory is turned on without starting the vehicle, the more is the battery drain.

Thinking out loud...

Say for example a person is working inside a garage for long hours and doesn't want to settle with a cellphone music against an awesome Revel system ? and doesn't mind going back and forth every 10minutes to turn the radio back ON - maybe a trickle charger will work to prevent battery drain?

Of course, a person can always go for a drive after to regain the battery charge but what if there is 5ft of snow??

Sorry for being slightly off topic.

AND, FOR THE RECORD, I never thought off pressing the RADIO POWER BUTTON to play the radio with the ignition OFF. My default is always to just push the START/STOP button. I learned something new today?

Hi kramf. "...as elaborately described...". ?

Concerning using the audio power button, I can also add: At least in my 2018, the audio power button trick only works for a set amount of time after the last time the ignition is turned off. I have never tried to determine the exact amount of time. However, I can state that if I shut the car off at night and it sits unused,  the audio power button will not turn the audio system on in the morning. I then need to use the Start/Stop button and Delayed Accessory mode.

Good luck.
