Hi etrain.  Is it a problem with the heating and cooling features, or only the heating feature?

If it is the seat heaters, the most common cause is usually either a broken/shorted heating element in the seat bottom, or a shorted/broken wiring harness in the wiring in the seat back area, due to a lack of necessary slack.

I do not have the 2011 wiring diagrams, but we have tech members who may have access to them.  Hopefully one of them will jump in and assist you.

Keep us updated and good luck.

This is a heating seat issue I assume?

If so,  then you have a burnt or broken heating element,  which usually occurs in the seat pad.  Read this thread,  my repair write up is there.

Edit Looks like bbf2530 beat me to it.    But you don't need a wiring diagram for the repair.

Based on the topic title, it appears that he OP has the heated and cooled seats.  In that case, there are no heating elements per se.  A thermoelectric (Peltier) device is used instead.  Could be a wiring problem or a module problem.   To get a definitive answer, the DTC(s) are necessary.

I have a scan tool but it is not showing anything. To get those dtc's is it the forscan that is requireed?

A regular scan tool won't show any codes for this.  FORScan should have that capability.  There are others here that are knowledgeable with with FORScan.  Maybe they'll weigh in.  If not, a dealer or well-equipped shop diagnostic with an IDS tool will be necessary.

I think there is a Climate Controlled Seat Module that controls the seats, located under the seat (I think).

But first, I'd check the fuse(s), all wiring connections under the seat, and filter.

And is this issue affecting one seat, or all?

It is affecting both front seats and both heating and cooling. I must say that there is not a ton of information about these cars online. Glad I found something here

That's the module I was referring to above. Dual Climate Control Seat Module  (DCSM).  The connectors have been known to overheat and melt.

I believe it's under the passenger seat but don't hold me to that.

Hi etrain.  In addition to the possibilities drolds1 mentioned, I just saw mention of a failed "TED" (Thermo Electric Device) causing failure of the heated and cooled function on the drivers seat of a Ford Fusion Sport (cousin to our cars) on a Ford Fusion Sport forum. In their case, the passenger seat was still working.

The TED was replaced under warranty and it fixed the drivers seat issue.  I realize both your front seats are not working, but it is another possibility to look into.

Keep us updated and good luck.

I hold you to that because that is where I found it and you are correct about the overheat and melt - 1 terminal totally burnt....ty

ok, here you go with how I fixed it. I did not read the other article. The connector was a bitch to get off because of the welding that happened. The solder joints on the rear of the board needed to be resoldered (I did all the joints not just the bad one) Everything else you should be able to see in the pictures. I used a drill to hollow out the burnt pin.

I’m having the same issue, both heat and cool buttons light up and turn off after a second.

*disclaimer: I’m not a car person so idk much*

I believe I have the same problem. Etrain can you tell me where you found those connectors and what you did to fix it?

Hi etrain.  Nice work! And thanks for posting back to help others with your fix. ?

I’m not sure if etrain will see that last message, but if you know what he did could you assist me as well?

Hi Wkapa. Sorry, I don't know anything more than what etrain posted. Perhaps drolds1 or another member may.

Although he has not been active on the forum for almost a year, you could send him a PM, on the off chance he may check.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Hi gang. To avoid confusion for all my fellow forum members, who may wind up at one time or another hoping to get a reply from another member on an old thread:

1 - The "Last Activity" date listed under the screen name of a member shows when a member last signed-in on the Lincoln Forum (just as it states). Not when they "last visited". A member can visit the forum without signing in, and there will be no record/trace that they ever visited.

2 - Therefore, in the case of "etrain", his "Last Activity"  was October 9, 2019. However, he could have "visited" the forum yesterday, without signing in, and we would not know. Or he may not have ever been back since October 9, 2019.

Therefore, we do not know when etrain "last visited" the forum. All that is certain in this particular case, is that etrain's "Last Activity"/sign-in was October 9, 2019. He could have "last visited" any time between then and now, without signing in, and we would not know.

Bottom line is, none of us ever know the date when another member "last visited". We only know when they last signed in. That is their "Last Activity" date, listed under their screen name.

Hope that makes it easier for Lincoln Forum members to understand.

Good luck.

Just wanted to revive this topic in a new thread for my 2012 Lincoln MKZ Gasoline. I am having the same symptoms, and I am going to diagnose and tackle the repair in a different thread using the information from @etrain as a starting point. Since he hasn't responded in awhile to this thread, I will do my best to answer questions based on my experiences going forward.
