According to Dan's post TPMS is only 2015+ and no talk about Forscan on a Mac?  

 

I took a look at it and apparently it says iPhone iPod and iPad, also for PC

thanks Izzy but the link just goes to the app store and says only avialable for iphone ipad.  

 

Hey,   How hard was it to take the doors off and replace the speakers?  I might do something like that in the future.. nothing crazy just door replacements.. Crutchfield should have something.  i was also on ebay and found used Display units for our cars but unsure of the part number. Since we have Sat/nav it should be a direct swap and all i need is the SD card right?

The door panels are not hard to take out it has two screws on the bottom one under the power window switch which you just pop up and a screw at the door handle just pop out the plastic cover.

Here is the wire harness number for the speakers this way you won't have to cut wires.  Metra 72-5602.

 

I really couldn't tell if it would be direct swap, it might have to be program according to your Vin number.

Thanks for posting this! I had played with Forscan on my Focus a bit but hadn't touched the MKZ yet. So last night I turned off the "honk if the engine is still running" as I was tired of getting blapped at every time I tried to leave the car running for two seconds. Of course, now that winter's over that won't happen as often but it's nice to be rid of.

 

Unfortunately it looks like my OBD device isn't one of the good ones.

I don't see the lower modules, and rescanning with the switch set to "MS" doesn't turn up any more modules. I bought this one, which is the exact module Dan recommends in his how-to thread, but it's not doing the trick for some reason.

I actually have an issue where i have to push on the OBDLink while reading because the connection to the car is flaky. I tried to get Lincoln to check the OBD and replace it, but they said it was good enough for their standard. I would try pressure on the link . I use this one

I use that same adapter and it works fine for me as I made some changes in IPC.  Try configuring your ForScan connections again and have the toggle in the right mode when first connecting.  I thought I remember it tells you when to toggle it for MS.

I have a 2013 loaded MKZ. Does anybody have a 2013 list of forscan mods that are successful? Info on what will work, what might work and what years, is very confusing. I would like to disable the no key detection honk, and add TPMS.

If it says +15, it won't work.  So, TPMS is '15+ only.  The double-horn honk WILL work though.

If someone knew how to turn off stability control or enable the special "driver's package" suspension tuning, they'd be my hero.

I was able to use a vin decoder from a car w/ SummerHandling Package on cars.com, and get the coding. I then compared it to my car's vin (i do NOT have the SHP). I did not have any luck in determining where the more aggressive settings live in the steering/suspension modules. Confirmed elsewhere on this forum, is that hardware is the same (minus the Michelins) between SHP cars and non-shp. So the answer is in the coding. Not sure if we can get there with Forscan though.

Interesting - and I wonder if the changes are only applicable to AWD systems or if there's something in the suspension that's modified as well. I spent a couple of days looking for SHP cars on Autotrader but couldn't find any for sure.

Hi Laminar. From the 2014 MKZ brochure: "Summer Tire Handling Package: 19" polished aluminum wheels with painted pockets; summer

compound tires and unique sport-tuned Lincoln Drive Control. Requires Reserve and AWD; not available on MKZ Hybrid."
I'm not sure if the sport tuned "Lincoln Drive Control" was available as part of another package on the 2014 models. It sounds like the equivalent of the "Drivers Package" sport tuning on 2017-2018 models. I'll check and edit my post if I find anything.
So essentially, the 2014 MKZ Summer Handling Package consists of summer compound tires and Lincoln Drive Control. And it was only available on AWD Reserve trim models in the 2014 model year.
Which conversely, essentially also means that if you put summer tires on any non-Hybrid, 2014 Reserve AWD with Lincoln Drive Control, it now is a Summer Handling Package MKZ.
The same goes for 2018 models. Add summer tires to the "Drivers Package" and you now have the functional equivalent of the "Summer Tire Package".

No, I don't believe it's just summer tires on an AWD model - the suspension and stability control also have unique tuning, theoretically. That's how it was able to out-slalom an M5.

Hi Laminar. Sorry if my post was confusing, but you missed me mentioning the "Sport Tuning" in my post. 

However, I was also answering your question as to whether it was only available on AWD models. At least for 2014, that is the case.

I think it will be difficult to find a "Summer Handling Package" advertised. First, it is a very low take option.  Second, many people don't even know that it existed or what it consists of (this thread proof of that), so most people will be unlikely to even list it as a feature of their car when selling. Just my thoughts on the subject.

EDIT - Out of curiosity, where did you read that it could "out slalom an M5"?

EDIT #2 - Never mind, found an article mentioning it, link below. Forgot I actually read those tests >4 years ago. If you read the article, you will see that the MKZ which "out slalomed an M5" (a V6 AWD model) did not even have the "Summer handling Package" with any production available re-tuned suspension, because the option was not even available when the car was tested.  It simply had Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires which were not even available on the MKZ at the time of the test. It (putting tires not available on the production car onto a test car) was actually a bit of a funny mini-scandal in the automotive press at the time. Test drive articles also mentioned how those summer particular tires made the MKZ ride uncomfortable and resemble driving on 4 basketballs.

 

I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from trying to change their suspension tuning, only providing information which may be helpful.

As I mentioned earlier, a Ford suspension engineer told me that the STHP had no hardware changes.  The sport-tuned part of it was accomplished with software changes.

 

As I also opined, you can probably get 90% of it with summer tires.

However, I can answer one of your questions in that thread concerning the take rate on the Summer Handling Package. I read an MKZ road test article where a Ford representative stated it was ~1%.

Art, I promise I will look more closely for your opines moving forward. ;) :)

 

P.S. - On a bright note, I found out today my new MKZ is on a Union Pacific railcar in Kansas as we speak. To paraphrase Dorothy, I look forward to when it won't be in Kansas anymore. :headspin:

Hi Art. If I'm lucky it will arrive late this coming week and I'll have it for Memorial Day weekend.  If I'm not lucky, it will arrive just after Memorial Day. Unfortunately, my Salesperson does not know how to access and provide me the railcar numbers, so I can't track it myself.

I hope I'm lucky. Would love to have it for the holiday weekend trips. :headspin:

The brochure specifically calls out "unique sport-tuned Lincoln Drive Control," implying the suspension tuning is unique to the Summer Tire Handling Package.

That's not a question I asked. I wondered if the unique sport tuning affected only the AWD system's stability control/torque vectoring, or if some aspect of the unique sport tuning would benefit a FWD model as well, perhaps with more permissive stability control or adjusted damping rates.
