  1. I have a 2014 MKZ and all 4 doors have rust on the seams.

Took it to a shop for repairs and this is how it looks like after taking a piece off the seam.

He is going to fix it but he told me that in the future I might have to replace the doors.

When that happens I'll just trade it in.

@Izzy3906 hey man! How is it going? I remember you from the initial days I was doing Forscan in 2017. Hope all is well.

I kind of ignored modding my car (2015 Lincoln MKZ) since 2019, but now I am back on it.

I am also looking to add my sub, but I read somewhere that the Ford system (Sony) will reduce bass at higher volumes to "save" their speakers.

There is a write up on 2gfusion where if you had the Ford Fusion with Sony AMP, there is a AS-Built you can modify in Forscan to get it to output line level on a particular port in the harness. Not sure if this would translate to the THX system.

@JShayParlay I think start with what Izzy said. They do say "Ignorance is bliss"

@Izzy3906 where did you run the ground wire to in the trunk for your amp?

I'm doing great hope you are too.

For the ground I used the screws from the rear seat seatbelt was the only place I could find.

Not sure for the THX but the basic system it has one amp for the door speakers which does not produce no bass so the speakers will never suffer.

There is a second amp for the 6X9 which has the bass and yes the higher the volume the less bass but if you tap into the ^6X9 for the aftermarket

amp it should produce the bass you looking for.

I have a 2013 MKZ w/ the THX sound system.  I have a pair of 12 inch Kickers in a box sitting in my closet.  Should I run power to an amp and install the extra subwoofers?  Will I have to remove the factory subwoofers?  Will it throw the whole system into chaos?  Will the world end? Or will I just merely relieve my 1999 days of bumping around town?

You do not need to remove your factory 6X9 subwoofer just tap in to them to feed the aftermarket amp with a high to low adapter.

Oh my god thank you! Did you have to find a module that had the right side buttons (park assist, hazards, etc) that matched perfectly or will it not matter?

also if you remember, what website did you get the unit from?

What I did was I copied the FCIM program from mine before I took it out using Forscan and installed it in the new one.

Any buttons that my car didn't have wont work the rest will.

Thanks for the link.  I wasn't familiar with that company.  I guess it's warm enough where you live to stay within the recommended ambient temp range for application.  It'll be interesting to see how it holds up.

Well Texas weather is kind a crazy. The day the ceramic coating was done it was a beautiful day. The next day it was cold and today it was warm.

As time passes Ill try to keep informing on how it holds up.
