kramf411   Posted June 13, 2020 Maybe it's normal, maybe not. Without saying anything much, by looking at the picture, can you see something odd? I have a close up but I'll save it for later 😀

kramf411 Â Â Posted June 14, 2020 I've look at other images of cars posted here - nothing I've seen like mine. Clue: similar to what @MKZMark noticed - difference between left and right.
Spaceman   Posted June 14, 2020 It sort of looks like the driver’s side headlamp is higher than the passenger’s side?
Chris109   Posted June 14, 2020 No 'protesters' in the background?  The grill is crooked. Looks like there is a piece missing. But, then again, the whole front end is off. Take it back and have them fix it. May have been in an accident.  1 Robert Iggy Cerami reacted to this

The angle when I took it may have seem to show a missing piece.
Multitask   Posted June 14, 2020 Ah HA, you can't tell from the main pic... but you are right, it's not normal.... unless that is an intake for something
kramf411 Â Â Posted June 14, 2020 Car is stock. No intake. Or maybe the previous owner made it on purpose.
Multitask   Posted June 15, 2020 Mine are both like the left one... no vent.... have you looked behind it to see if there is something?
kramf411 Â Â Posted June 15, 2020 There is nothing behind it.
Multitask   Posted June 15, 2020 Then I would think that either it's a mess up at the manufacture, OR, it was in an accident and was replaced with the wrong one.
kramf411 Â Â Posted June 15, 2020 Would there be a "vented" version that other cars are using that would fit the my 2017 MKZ?
drolds1   Posted June 15, 2020 (edited) Just checked mine. It's open as well. Shine a flashlight in the opening and you can see part of the intercooler. Apparently, it's an air intake for the IC. I'm guessing 3.0s have it and maybe 2.0s don't. Pic to follow. Multitask   Posted June 15, 2020 I know my 2020 Hybrid they are both solid.... so Drolds1 might be correct... it is open to vent air to the intercooler...

No, it's Silver Radiance, a new color for 2020. I took the picture in my garage and apparently it picked up a reflection of something. There's a picture here.  57 minutes ago, kramf411 said: Now, that makes sense. @Multitaskwas actually right about his earlier comments: "intake for something" You can't see it in the photo but there's something of a duct behind the grille on the lower part that directs air into the IC. bbf2530 Â Â Posted June 16, 2020 Hi gang. Although it is already verified by several of you, I will add that my 3.0T's drivers side lower front fascia is also open. Â I would only add a theory (unless someone definitely knows it is intercooler related), that perhaps the duct is actually for the air intake snorkel? I state that theory because my understanding until now would be that the intercooler takes air from the upper and lower grille opening, exactly like the engine radiator. So perhaps (and I may be entirely wrong), that duct behind the lower left fascia is for the air intake snorkel? Â Good luck. Â Â Â Â

Spaceman   Posted June 17, 2020 Thanks for highlighting this, I hadn’t noticed! I have a 2019 3.0 and yes, the driver’s side vent is also open. 1 kramf411 reacted to this
