    Head light upgrade

Thanks for getting my curiosity up and looking. Yes, it's in the manual and they are also connect to your windshield wipers during certain situations. SiriusXM subscription offers?

Thanks Chris... I just called Lincoln concierge and talked to a girl there. Hard to understand her, but the gist of the conversation was there is no 6 year program for my 2016. After reading the SiriuXM web site I found a coverage map: https://www.siriusxm.com/siriusxmtraffic/marketcoverage I'm familiar with Waze but haven't used it a a couple of years. It always seemed to be slow to recalculate so I've stuck with google maps for traffic using the phone. Unfortunately with Sync 2 in my 2016 it doesn't appear that I can link either of them to the car. Thank you for everyone's input.

    SiriusXM subscription offers?

Thanks for the input gentlemen. I'll do some research on that. I do have the factory Navigation. I'll turn turn on Sirius 133 and see what happens. All I'm finding is 6 months free. I'll call Lincoln tomorrow and check with them. https://www.siriusxm.com/infotainment (Traffic, etc) Monthly pricing is based on combining with an active SiriusXM satellite audio subscription. When subscribing to these Infotainment services without an active SiriusXM satellite audio subscription, a minimum Annual subscription plan is required. ยฉ 2006-2016 TomTom. All rights reserved. SiriusXM subscription offers?

I had been under the (mistaken) impression that the Traffic information for our Nav app was included in a regular subscription. NOT! Silly me. They want $3.99 a month, plus tax.

    GPS Map Update '14 MKZ

Picked up the A10 map off Ebay for $41.89 and today it's even cheaper... https://tinyurl.com/y35ze6md << current Ebay price from the same vendor $38.95 Just fired it up in the garage and works just fine. Have yet to drive with it.
  8. Yeah, saw the 2nd battery and the unusual polarity stacking. Paid a buck each for Sony batteries at local "hardware / salvage" shop next to Office Depot. Check expiration dates. The 2025's I picked up are good till 2027. I'm taking my chances with the multi-meter and waiting for the system to warn me. We're talking 7500 miles or less a year with 2 fobs. Not worried and I've got an extra set in my desk ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I just got the message on one fob last week so I guess that one lasted a little over 3 years or so. I checked the batteries in the other one and they are good on volts.

Only reason I'd be interested is for traffic info with my Sync 2 Nav. If it is really accurate.
  14. You might check over at mustang6g.com and the eco boost threads. Lot of guys doing stuff. Different, I know, but, if nothing else get some brand names to check with for ideas? Good luck.

    3M Clear Bra

Anyone have any experiences with these? Looking at getting a 3M clear bra that will cover 1/3 of the hood, bumper, mirrors and a 10 yr warranty from 3M for $600. They wrap the product around the edges so there's no edge to pull or ride up. More $$ than I want to spend to do the whole hood. I can live with the edge since I'm not taking it to car shows like previous vehicles. Any questions you'd ask if you did it again? Thanks... 3M Clear Bra

I'm coming to the conclusion that the clear bra is like an insurance policy. You may never need it, but it makes you feel more comfortable going down the road. I bought my MKZ after turning my Mustang back in after the lease. In 3 years I averaged around 7k miles a year. So this one will be with me for quite some time to come. I've never gotten that involved in all the chemicals for the paint. My favorite tool is my leaf blower. No hard water spots, no drips and I only need one microfiber towel to completely dry it. Not having 20-15 vision ๐Ÿ™‚ and only daily drivers, I am using some Meguiar's wax & Ultimate Polish. If things get out of hand I'll use their polishing compound. For dusting off the paint on all of my cars I've used Turtle Wax "Wax & Dry" and their Express Shine Carnuauba spray cleaner/wax. I've also had good luck with Nu Finish on my cars and trailer over the years.

    3M Clear Bra

Thanks for the replies. I'm waffling on the decision exactly because of Zalvern and jimflutes experiences. I had a Chrysler Crossfire that collected chips like crazy. Then my Mustang which picked up a few in the oddest places; like on the panel behind the rear side window. How'd that get there??? Nothing big, just annoying. Right now I have a pit in the chrome of one of the plastic grill blades. A lot of interstate driving will probably raise your chances for pitting as well. It seems nothing is perfect. I've talked to my body shop guy who I've been using for 20 years and he doesn't like ceramics at all, let alone clear bras. Another buddy in the car sales industry dislike both as well. Then there are all the testimonials on YouTube about the different brands. Thanks for the observation about the warranty Zal. Have to figure there's always a gotcha for the consumer I guess. Thinking, in my case, it will depend on how much cross country driving I really think my wife and I will do. My MKZ is Ruby Red, my 2015 Mustang was as well as my 2004 Crossfire. Love the color, hate the white where the wax gets caught in the pits. hehe..

    Hybrid MPG

I'm not a true believer in the fuel computer mpg. (It's all over the place when compared to pencil and paper numbers.) Temperatures are not really a consideration around here. Our seasons are fire, flood, earthquake and drought. I just did 217 miles in my 2016 and the computer said I did 40.4 mpg with 102.4 EV. My hand held calculator divided 217 / 5.97 gallons and came up with 36.7 mpg. That's about the same results that I got last fill up. 42.4 mpg on the computer and 39.8 mpg on hand held calculator. The last 2700 miles worth of fill-ups have been similar. So I'm trying to figure out what these EV mpg's are all about. If we subtract my 102 EV miles from the 217 mile and divide that by the 5.97 gallons the 2.0 engine got 18.9 mpg. Using the same logic my last tank was 22.8 mpg for the 2.0. I'm canceling cruise control for the long down hills. The engine seems to come on to maintain your selected speed. I'm very happy with it but i do miss zero to 85 mph by the top of the freeway on ramp in my Mustang EB with 31mpg on the highway.

  22. My OCD is kicking in. My fuel used counter reads 1 to 2 miles per gallon better than actual. Using the gas station gallons pumped and a calculator the two don't coincide. I had the same deal in my Mustang and a fellow had a hack to get into the computer to adjust it in tenths of a mile. Question is, has anyone discovered how to do it with the MKZ? Thanks!

Fine Tune the Average Fuel Used Counter

car mpg / gas pump mpg 42.4 45.0 40.1 36.4 42.5 40.4 40.2 38.1 42.1 38.7 41.9 39.7 39.1 42.1 No idea what's going on. Probably the same computer guru wrote this code that did the stock market black box trading code. I've left Trip 2 untouched since I got the car and it's showing 41.1 mpg over the last 2,000 miles. I've watched EV miles and those sort of make sense when considering if the majority of driving was stop & go or 70 mph.

    Hybrid license plate frame .

I got a couple of license plate frames from BestLicensePlateFrames.com They were anodized aluminum for $28.99 each plus tax. No shipping. They seem substantial enough to last for a few years. There's no plastic. No Hybrid, but it's available. My frame and my wife's... I'll leave it to you to figure out which one belongs to her ๐Ÿ™‚
