jimflutes
I just came back from the dealership . They said they will replace the airbag module when they get it from Ford/Lincoln , in the meantime if the airbag light is not on then you are safe ,when they get the part they will replace even if the warning light is not lit. Same goes for the steering problem recall ( no parts yet ). If the airbag light comes on then Ford would consider this an emergency and get the part to the Dealership on a need to have issue. I e-mailed Lincoln customer service , they wrote back and said about the same , also that this is not an EXPECTED failure , it has only happened in a few cars at this time , as long as the warning light is not on you are safe. Davisjl
I thought the airbag issue had to do with the shards of metal fragments flying out of the airbag when deployed. I don't think it had anything to do with something the airbag light would come on for, FYI. So... I'm not sure how they can say you're safe, except that the % of failure are extremely low so the odds would most likely be in your favor. Unless you're that one lucky dude that wins the lottery... just saying ;) Edited June 23, 2015 by Davisjl

You're confusing this issue with the Takata airbag recall, which has nothing at all to do with the subject at hand. The Lincoln airbag recall involves short circuits in the RCM, not flying shrapnel. It's only emergent if the airbag light is on. Jimflutes does not have an illuminated airbag light, hence no danger. There are no Lincolns with Takata airbags. jimflutes
This why you have to love this forum , drolds1 came right out with this correct information to help us . Now remember , when our dealers get the new modules they will replace the old ones ,if you want them to, even if the airbag light is not on , so my service manager said.
