jimflutes
I have four year maintaince but looking at the work sheets the dealer has not replaced my air filter at 26,000 miles , so I purchsed the oem ford filter on ebay for $17.00 (f/s) ,it does not look real dirty , but it is very easy to service yourself , always err on the safe side. drolds1
Interesting. The first generation MKZh had a long-life air filter that was supposed to last for the life of the car. I guess that says something.
jimflutes
drolds1 , For some reason I sort of remember the 30,000 miles air filter change somewhere in the manual , anyway for the money it won't hurt , and it seems I am always looking to do something on the car because I like it so much , thak you for the response . Jim You're correct. The manual does say 30K miles for the new cars, in contrast to the 2010-2012s, which recommended no replacement for the life of the car. jimflutes
drolds1, Thanks , just wondering , if the Lincoln dealership replaced the air filter at 30,000 miles ,they probably would not charge for the maintance ,but would charge for the filter itself ,and it probably would cost more then what I paid. The interesting thing is that the 2010 - 12 mkz has a lifetime air filter ,I have never heard of that other then the ones you have to clean and oil (K&N). drolds1
You'd have to pay for labor as well as the cost of the filter. Complimentary maintenance includes only three oil/filter changes and tire rotations. You'd have to upgrade to a premium maintenance package for filters. See brochure here. From 2012 MKZh owner's guide: AIR FILTER Your vehicle is equipped with a long life air filter. The air filter isdesigned to last the life of the vehicle. See your authorized dealer or aqualified technician for replacement. The technician can check thediagnostics system for the possibility of an excessively dirty air filter.
