Power Trunk Lid

Recommended Posts

I've had this issue on both sides. Twice on the right - once on the left.

The first time was only the right side and it began within a month of delivery. The dealer "adjusted" and lubricated the RH trunk arm. The issue presented itself again late this winter (March time frame) first on the right and then on the left. I waited till the weather warmed to see if the noise continued to be evident - and it was. Last service visit, the dealer lubricated both sides and it's been quiet for almost two months.

I'll continue to monitor and report.

Dropped off car for service and Park Lamp Recall... Had my service guy listen to the trunk issue.. Was informed that they would have to keep the car longer in order to have the body shop folks take a look.. .Since I am leaving for a week long road trip on Sunday.. I decided to have it taken care of on my next service...

With so many coming forward with this problem I rechecked my 2014 which was built on April 7, 2014.

I opened and closed it with the remote three times on each side while listening/looking. I can't even see where it could make contact there seems to be plenty of clearence when it's in motion.

Guess I'm lucky too.

  • 1 year later...

my issue with my power trunk lid.... it would open about 12" then close. I was unable to force the decklid open.  i had to get my contents out via the back seat.  Took it to the dealer and they said a hinge broke and they replaced both hinges.  took about a month to get the car back.  But now the trunk creaks when it opens and closes like you all state.  but as long as it works..... ill leave well enough alone.  I have other issues with this car that are more pressing.
