Thinking of a used MKZ-H. Any build-dates to avoid?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My wife and I are looking for a new (used) car, and we seem to be gravitating towards either the Fusion Hybrid/Energi, or the MKZ Hybrid.  I've read that certain Fusions built in early 2013 and before can have some issues, and I was wondering if the same was true for the MKZ.  Are there any MKZ build dates that I should attempt to avoid?  I'd be looking at both 2013s and 2014s if I decided to buy.

Thanks a ton.

I got my 2013 MKZh in May 2013.  The build date was the last week of April 2013.   Roughly 20,000 miles.  No problems.   My service visits have been the 2 scheduled maintenance visits and/or a couple recalls.  42 MPG lifetime average, could not be happier.

I have a 2013 MKZ. i have to say it is a lemon within a lemon. I have had nothing but problems and will be trading in for something else in the fall. Windshield wipers did not turn on, corrosion on the cheap chrome, brakes at 30,000, auto headlights stopped working, heated steering wheel stopped working, blew out 2 tires within the first year..need 2 more after only 30,000 miles, paint is bubbling on the hood. 4 recent recalls, trunk issues, door latch problems, etc. This is the worst car I have ever owned...stay away!
