I have two sync issues:

1. Has anyone tried using the the Sync system to read your text. My new Samsung Galaxy S does not seem to work. Can anyone expound on this issue?

2. I hear you can put pictures on your navigation screen, however, when I tried USB drive where i downloaded the pictures, sync says it does not support?

I feel your pain. As I have noted in another forum, Sync is MUCH TOO COMPLICATED. Although I've had my Sync (SHO) for a few months now, I still don't know how to do a lot of things. Only the easy stuff. Now, they have made Sync even more complicated in the latest Lincolns and Fords with "My Lincoln Touch". I have not even mastered the regular Sync yet. Guess I'll just have to find a five year old kid to show me how to do all these things.

First I love the "My Lincoln Touch" and Sync. I really don't find it very complicated coming from an Infinity. Mine is showing generic icons where the pictures are. I will report back when I figure it out.

I have gotten the message texting is not supported with your phone, I have an iPhone so it should be supported and will report back on that also.

Sorry no help yet but I hope I can figure it out, if so I will post the answers.

I love to drive while texting, sexting among other things. The speed limit is so slow folks need something to do while driving. ;)

Not all cell phones are compatible for text messaging.  See the list here: http://support.lincoln.com/sync-technology/device-compatibility-sync-mylincoln-touch.  Find your carrier and phone in the list to see what features are available.  Only a few phones are compatible for reading text messages.  (You didn't say which Galaxy S you have, but the later builds of the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4 support texting.)

As far as the "hang up and drive" comment, I sort of agree.  All the technology in the MKZ can be distracting.  I suggest sticking to voice commands and steering wheel controls when driving.  When using the phone, limit conversations to things like "I'll call you back when I'm finished driving." or "OK, honey, I'll call you from the supermarket for the shopping list."

Also, the texting feature in MyLincolnTouch does NOT allow you to text while driving.  It simply alerts you when your phone receives text messages, and you can push the Talk button and say "Read messages." and it will use text-to-voice to read them to you.  Main thing is to focus on driving and not be distracted.  That's always the driver's responsibility.

According to the support page, the iPhone 5 supports SMS texting.  According to Sync, it is not supported.  I'm going to turn off the iMessage option on my iPhone and see if that will work.  Both Sync and iPhone software are the latest releases.

Wish me luck!

Update:  Sync will not support blue tooth text messaging with the iPhone.  It doesn't seem to work when the phone is plugged in to the USB either.  I guess the Lincoln support site is incorrect or I have no clue how to make this work.

When I first got the car, I had a Motorola Razr. Sync would actually convert text to voice and read it to me. Then I got an Iphone, and lost that capability.

Had the same thing happen. Had a Motorola Droid and it was great when the text was read to me, now I have an iPhone 5s and phone doesn't support this. A shame, old Droid was over 2 years old and was supported. New 5s no such luck.

Syncmyride.com showed that my MKZ was due for a dealer installed Sync update. Took the car in, had it done. Syncmyride.com now shows update confirmed, but still shows dealer installed update needed. Still no text to voice.

Really?  One would think of all phones, the iPhone would be the ONE that works.

Go to your bluetooth menu on your phone. Select the "i" icon to the right of "Sync" in the bluetooth menu.

Make sure that notifications are turned "on" By default they are turned off.

This is assuming you have ios 7.0 or later, and the latest version of MyTouch.

Text messaging will then work after the next key cycle.

Any updates on this? I can't believe the coolest car in the world, won't read/send text messages with the coolest phone in the world (Galaxy S5)!

I can get it to kinda work. It won't read them at all but, it will send "This SMS was sent from my Lincoln". There are no preset messages, the box is empty where they should be. I can edit the text, but nothing changes.

Sync requests and accepts text message notifications (assuming you have the latest version).

If the phone or phone's security settings don't allow this, it's not the car's fault.

I'm pretty tech savvy, I can't any security settings to allow texting with my car.

I have had success getting the Sync/MLT system in my 2014 MKZ to read texts from my iPhone 5 running iOS8. As someone else here suggest you need to have notifications enabled from your iPhone..

Also when I did the update to iOS8, I needed to delete the iPhone from the paired list, then pair it up again. After turning notifications on and cycling the engine, I was back in business....
