Karen Prada
I have recently had a burning smell (like burning wires) in my 2012 Lincoln Hybrid MKZ. It is currently at our local Lincoln dealer. They have driven it, and can smell it, but cannot determine where it is coming from. It comes and goes all the time, and with or without the a/c on. Has anyone had this kind of problem, and if so, did you figure out what it was?
Karen Prada
Here's an update on our "burning wire" smell. There ended up being no problem with our Lincoln. What happened is that we had just recently had our back and rear windows tinted. Right after that we started smelling like something was burning, but did not think that would have anything to do with window tinting. But when we took it in to the dealer, they checked it out and found that the 3rd brake light (in the rear window) had been taken out and left dangling by the people who tinted the window. (so they could get into that space in order to tint it.) But they forgot to put the light bulb back and it was touching on insulation, so every time we braked, it was burning the insulation. Problem solved and many thanks to our Lincoln dealer in Merced, CA for all their help! LincolnCurious
