Navigation Issue

My 2007 Lincoln MKZ Navigation System was working fine since I purchased the car in Fall 2011, about 6 months ago my I could hear my Navigation Disc spinning annoyingly inside the system and then it started being more noticible and I also then about 3 weeks ago I got a Navigation System Error Message and could no longer use the GPS.  I removed the disc but still could hear the spinning with no disc inside but not as loud, I purchased a 2014 update which you don't want to know how much it costs and loaded it and now the GPS seems to be working but the crazy spinning sound is still there.  Anyone out there know what's going on?  If I have to replace the system I don't feel like paying $500 for a car that I am only going to have for another 2-3 years.

UPDATE: I received a Navigation System Error and it stopped reading the brand new disc, it's amazing that I cannot find a shop that can repair it.  I am going to have a new system installed for close to 600 dollars including labor and taxes...CRAZY.....

I would love to buy a Garmin, the slot where the Navigation disc goes keeps loudly spinning like it's trying to load the disc and eject the disc and there is NO DISC inside, very distracting and nerve racking and I must play the music or sports to reasonably drown out the sound.  It stops sometimes and then it doesn't, I need to find a repair shop to take a look at it.

Garmin Nuvi 3490 is what I have. I like it better than the OEM unit.
