Luxe Metallic & Guard Metallic

So every dealer around me has Tuxedo Black, Ignot Silver, Magnetic, and/or White on their lots.

Who here has seen in-person the Luxe and Guard colors?  Is the Luxe color more of a beige than a gray?  Is Guard the same Gaurd found on Mustangs?  Online photos aren't cutting it, as per usual.

Going to order mine Tuesday if I go through with this and, well, I'd like a unique color but I can't bring myself to do that Torch color and no other color other than the aforementioned bunch opens an eye.

Thoughts?

I've seen both the MKZ and Mustang and guard here in Michigan and they are the same. I will try to snap some photos since there are a lot of MKZs around Ford WHQ.

I saw a couple Fusions with the guard color and it's very "christmas candle" to me - I feel like if I light it up the area would smell like pine needles.  It sort of has a yellow-ness to it when light is on it and you're looking at the right angle.  It wasn't for me.

I could not find anything with the Luxe color, though.

I'm in Atlanta.  I went to the dealer that was going to offer $30K on my trade and the right price on the MKZ spec'd how I wanted it and instead when I got there they said they could only give me $27K for the trade.  So basically bait and switched.  Typical g'dam experience with dealerships.  I'm sick of it.  Screw it - Lincoln can fly a kite.  Been through hell with Mercedes, Ford (same dealership, they owed me one), and now this crap.  I'm not buying an MKZ - at least anytime soon.

Dealers and dealers regardless of the brands that they sell. :(

Hi, I just bought a 2015 MKZ in guard metallic. I've seen it on the mustang, but in my opinion guard metallic on the MKZ is more brilliant than on the ford counterparts. It is a tough color to describe and looks differt in different light.

Guard certain has a slight chameleon trait to it. I'd have to check the paint code between Ford and Lincoln to see if they are indeed different.

Congratulations! You must be on cloud 9 today - love those wheels!

Yeah, it's a great car.

I have an Apple Watch on order, but did not get it today like many people.  So, instead I got a new car!  Yay!

If I had to describe Luxe Metallic in generic terms, I would say it's most like a pewter color.   Somewhere between Magnetic Metallic and Ingot Silver Metallic.  It's a nice color.

As I mentioned previously, Luxe Metallic appeared to originally be called Luxe Metalicious Metallic.  Lincoln does not appear to be using the latter name officially anymore, probably because it sounds like a pornstar or stripper name.  It seems to be perfect for that!  So, I have decided to use Luxe Metaliciious as my screen name on my late night cam shows.   :camera:

I suggested this to the salesgirl that sold my my car, and she just laughed.  She didn't think I was serious....  ;)

Pewter metallic with a hint of taupe--almost a hint of gold at certain light angles.  Good video can be found at

You can see how the appearance shifts from a mid-gray to taupe to goldish as what appears to be a late day sun hits it at an angle.  We actually just bought a 2015 MKZ with Luxe.  My wife isn't crazy about it.  I think it's an interesting, novel color, something outside all the silvers and grays that have been popular for years. She says hopefully it will grow on her.  We did get the side and rear windows tinted with 35% transmissive film which helped my case with her.  The darker windows pick up the 10 spoke wheels with painted creases and the black tires.  The paint in the creases almost matches the car's color. Would have gone 20% tint, but I figured that would catch the highway patrol's attention.  Our state really only allows 50% in front side windows.
