Jim Ayres
Well, 3500 miles on my 2015 and my deck lid won't latch. Except for the first week that I owned the car, I've always used the button on the deck lid to close it. I did notice from the beginning that the deck lid closed pretty hard and bounced as it shut. I had planned to have the dealer see if it could be adjusted so that it wouldn't close so hard, but tonight when I pushed the button to close the lid, it went down but didn't latch. I pushed the button again and nothing happened. Then I tried to shut it manually and it still wouldn't latch. So after driving home from the market with the deck lid partially open, I unloaded the groceries, climbed into the trunk, and tied the deck lid down with a heavy cord. I then proceeded to make an on-line appointment with the dealer, only to find out that there was an error in retrieving the scheduling information. So I couldn't make an appointment tonight and will have to call them in the morning. I love my car, and I want Lincoln to be successful, but I hope this isn't an indication of more problems further down the road.
Jim Ayres
Dropped thje car off at the dealer this morning and got a 2015 MKZ as a loaner. It's the cleanest loaner car I've ever gotten. Just a base model with no options other than the V6. It's a blast drive. I think I like it better than my 2.0. The seats are more comfortable than the multi-contour seats in mine, but I do miss the pano roof and the navigation system. I'll keep you posted on what it takes to repair the deck lid. Jim Ayres
Got the car back today and all is fine. Didn't get a good explanation of what was wrong. It may be that when I closed the decklid at the market, the paper bag handle got stuck in the latch and fooled the mechanism into thinking the trunk was latched. drolds1
I'm glad it's fixed, Jim. WRT to your theory, I had something stuck in the latch also and the lid went back up on its own. Twice now, mine partially opened and just stopped. Closing it and reopening restores normal operation. There are occasional electronic glitches with this car but a "reboot" always seems to fix them. StealthMKZ
Glad you got it fixed...just got mine back from a "self inflicted" issue I caused. Use caution if anything gets stuck under the passenger seat. With the contour of the floor in front of the seat, I got a plastic water bottle stuck in there...apparently in the process of getting it out I broke off the connection for the weight sensor, therefore the air bag light was on the dash. Felt stupid when I picked it up, but also got the emmission recall handled at the same time.
