Leaking Windshield - 2014 MKZ

Recommended Posts

Talk about a shocker.  I took my MKZ ('14 with only 3500 miles on it) to my favorite car-wash on Friday; it's an "all by hand" place.  When the car came out from the wash area, the driver was excitedly calling me over.

When I looked inside, there was water [a lot of it] all over the console and the seats; it was dripping from the overhead console area...sort of like a drip coffee maker.  My car has the Pano Roof and it was definitely closed; upon opening it, there was no water.  The source of the water was the top of the windshield to the roof.  Imagine my delight.

I called my dealer (plugs for Sanderson Lincoln, Phoenix, AZ) and they could not have been more helpful.  The service tech advised of an appointment for Tuesday and they would gladly bring a loaner car and driver to my home to drive the car to the dealership.  Imagine my delight.

Now, I sure hope it's easy to fix.

Anyone have any leak issues?

Sorry to hear, hope they can get that fixed for you.  One of the reasons I shy away from those roofs, even sunroofs.  I am probably going to age myself here, but back in the "T TOP" days I had a horrble experience with a brand new car, and also with a Lincoln LS sunroof that constantly had leak issues.  I'm sure they will check it out, but watch out for debris build up on the seals and drain openings.  Wish you luck they get it fixed right the first time!

Update today:  The Lincoln Dealership checked the issues and rather than messing with trying to fix the seals, they will just replace the entire windshield.  Downtime is 2-3 days but they have given me a loaner MK-T....ugh, it's nice but the ugliest color I've ever seen.  ha ha And it ain't no MKZ.

The electrical stuff inside the overhead console appears to be unaffected; but noted just in case.

To StealthMKZ - The first place I checked for leaks was from the Pano Roof and so happy that big mother seals up well...the leak was from the windshield only.  I also can remember the T-Top days and fortunately no leaks that I recall.  I did get caught in a rain downpour one time...taught me to keep the tops handy.
