MissingLinc
Is it possible to retract the pano roof partially so as not to block the view to the rear? If so, I'll be getting the pano roof as I imagine it would open up the feel in the cabin whether it's open or not.
JoeBrown
Although my wife has a moonroof on her Jaguar which I've driven a lot, this is my first car with a moonroof. I really like it. I can't answer your question but the pano roof would certainly give you a open feeling. My question is how much does it obstruct the rear vision when open? SteveB_TX
It is my understanding that, like the moon roof, the pano roof can be opened in two stages. Don't quote me on that! One trick I have found to help answer some of these questions is to download the Owners Manual from the Lincoln website for the model in question. You would be surprised (well, probably not) at the vast amount of information you can glean from the manual! ;)
bman1111
I purchased my MKZ about 3 weeks ago. I did not like the fact that the pano roof covered part of the rear window. I did go with the regular sun roof. It is a great option and makes the car interior brighter.
KenZ
On my 2013, the Pano roof auto opens to the fully open position. But, you can start and stop the Pano roof at any point. At 55+ MPH it automatically retracts to a 3/4 open position to cut down on wind noise, but you can override and reopen it to fully open if the noise doesn't bother you. Even fully open, at least half of the back window is usable. Not sure how much more you need to see what is behind you. I never even thought about it. There's one thing I can say about the Pano roof on my wife's 2014 MKZH---just hope that none of your quarter panels are damaged! I knew what the repair would be just to reach all of the factory welds--as I worked on cars. Can anyone guess the cost of a correct repair? 4N1M4L
The power rear sunshade wasn't available with the pano, that's what would drive me to non pano
Davisjl
They Pano was one the features I really wanted. Fully open, it covers the view out of the top of the rear window, but it doesn't block the view of seeing what behind you out of the bottom of the window. you may not see 1/4 mile behind you, but you sure can see 2 or three cars back. Of course you can open/close it to the position you like and it auto closes to 1/2ish at highway speeds to give full view out of the back window. I'm a mirrors type of driver... so I look in the rearview often and although it took a bit to get used to what I was seeing.. I now over-ride the auto highway speed feature and move the pano all to full open even while driving interstate without issue on view. EatDirtFartDust
You can open or close the pano roof as far or little as you like.
Passinos
My 13' Pano vibrates when closing if it is sitting in the sun on hot parking lot. Had it aligned and greesed but vibration is still there. Liekly the retract speed is not in sync from left and right side, But I love the Pano, no issues with visibility. You would be surprised (well, probably not) at the vast amount of information you can glean from the manual! ;) It automatically opens to the comfort position.. but can then be opened fully. Comfort position is for less wind noise and pressure, as stated below by others. I knew what the repair would be just to reach all of the factory welds--as I worked on cars. Can anyone guess the cost of a correct repair? Be best to not think about that and have good insurance. The retract to my understanding is done by the same motor on both left and right side... but one thing to realize is that the pano is a VERY heavy piece of glass. Passinos
The vibration is bad, throughout the whole car you can hear and feel the buffetting. Even from 20' away is loud enough to hear. Maybe mine is offset or out of alignment.

If they are as quiet as a normal moon roof, grab your SA and let him/her listen and compare. :)

AZ MKZ h
The Pano Roof was one of the cool features that made me buy my MKZ. It does open in 2 stages, first the cover retracts and then the glass; one hit on the button, opens full. You can indeed stop it mid way if you want to. As mentioned earlier, at approx 50+ mph, it auto closes. I find if I put the driver side rear window down 1", the warble noise subsides. 3sacrwd
I love the pano roof. Our sunshade doesnt work and the dealer is having a hard time getting parts. Still a great option and fun to drive with the top open. No issues with visibility.
PatriotSunset
There were 3 things we required when looking for a used mkZ hybrid - inflatable rear seat belts, THX stereo and the pano roof. Got them all and the roof is fantastic and I can see out back no problem and opening that thing up is almost like a convertible. Much better than a regular sunroof. I have on a couple of occasions, gotten the vibration on closing it. I'm going in for free 20,000 mile service next week, I might tell em about it or might not. I'd be really interested in hearing if Passinos has gotten his fixed?
Passinos
mine really never got fixed. they tried 3 times with different greese. They had the latest from Lincoln, a 2 part high heat resistant greese. But it still shakes. Got 45k miles, close to 50k warranty. Not sure what to do. They gave me a loaner 2015 MKZ with Pano. it had abosultely no problem even in 105 degree temps. PatriotSunset
Stinks that they can't fix it. I'm afraid they might make mine worse so I may just ignore it for now. So far it's only done it twice and I think, yeah, it was really hot days and the roof had been open in the sun. I'm thinking maybe I can modulate or control it a bit by stopping and starting the closure? Edited July 10, 2015 by PatriotSunset
