jason2213
Has anyone ever removed this trim piece before, if so how do you do it without breaking it? Is it glued on or bolted on? On my car it has started to sag and the glue holding it onto the dash has been exposed. It looks pretty bad, I'd like to remove it and reattach it if possible. Hi jason2213 and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum. It fastens from behind. You need to disassemble part of the dash and glove compartment to get to the back. Unfortunately, I do not have a diagram. Perhaps one of our other members does and will jump in to help. Keep us updated and good luck.

And is that the same for the trim piece on the left side of the dash (right by the steering wheel)? That has the same issue of glue getting exposed from warping or something. drolds1
See this video on servicing the passenger side airbag, in which he removes that trim piece. Ar around 1:02, he describes the fasteners that hold it on from behind, as well as the adhesive at the top edge.

I don't know for sure, but I'd assume it's similar. Probably not as easy to access, though. BTW, welcome to the MKZ forum.
jason2213
Thanks for the help, I took it off today with not much issue. I think I figured out the problem why the glue was becoming exposed. Earlier this year I had the local Lincoln dealer do some airbag recalls and I think they used some extra glue when they were reapplying the trim piece. I took it off and there were just gobs of what looked like guerrilla glue everywhere, way too much.
