nzkmxm
Greetings to all, he decides to replace the fluids and came across the fact that in addition to the oil, you need to add an additive to the differential, it is called Motorcraft Additive Friction Modifier XL-3 0.118l. The question was, does my MKZ 2017 awd 2.0 reserve limites slip differential , because the additive is designed for this type of differential, can I add it to get rid of noise? nzkmxm
generally on an all-wheel drive Lincoln MKZ limited slip diff? or non?
drolds1
The rear differential in the AWD MKZ is not LSD. The additive you mentioned is intended for LSD differentials. Therefore, it's not recommended for use in your MKZ.
nzkmxm
thanks for the answer! I would also like to clarify in Lincoln MKZ there are absolutely no LSD parts either front or rear? neither in the rear axle nor in the transfer case? (differential) in general, use oils 80w90 and 75w140 respectively without adding LSD additives, since there is no LSD in Lincoln MKZ, right? Yes, you should use the recommended specification, as per the 2017 Lincoln MKZ Owners Manual...which is the following: The rear differential: "Rear differential fluid (All Wheel Drive) (U.S. and Mexico): Motorcraft® SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant XY-80W90-QL" The specification which the oil needs to "meet and/or exceed" is "WSP-M2C197-A". And no need for additives. And the PTU: "WSL-M2C192-A Power Transfer Unit fluid (All Wheel Drive) (U.S. and Mexico) Motorcraft® SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant XY-75W140-QL" The specification which the oil needs to "meet and/or exceed" is "WSL-M2C192-A". And no need for additives. Let us know who you make out and good luck. Edited March 5, 2023 by bbf2530 gfong
