However, since the local dealership has closed, I will not drive 60+ miles to get it done from the nearest dealer. Do any of you guys get it done at a Jiffy Lube or those type of places? Ford is not exactly around the corner either. Hi Chris. How about a local Ford Dealer? A Ford Dealer will use the proper Motorcraft oil filter and spec oil. Personally, I would not use a JiffyLube or similar type chain shop for service, unless I was best friends with the Manager or tech doing the work and could specify/ensure a Motorcraft oil filter and the proper spec oil were used. If you don't have a convenient local Ford Dealer, do you have in independent shop in your area that you can trust or be referred to by a friend/family member? One you can tell you want a Motorcraft filter and the proper spec oil and trust it is done as you asked? Keep us updated and good luck. jimflutes Posted July 3, 2022 Share Posted July 3, 2022 If you use a place like Jiffylube be sure to sit and watch how they do the oil change , most all of these places hire very inexperienced workers because they paid low wages , consequentially the workers could less about what they are doing , and who can know what kind of cheap oil they are using . I now paid a little extra and go to a Ford dealer , if not go to any car dealership that has trained mechanics working there . I use to go to Midas but every time I went there were different kids working there , last time I had to show them how to do the tire rotation and why ! Oil is the life blood of our cars . Jim Not to mention that they'll try to upsell you on all sorts of stuff you don't need or want. The web abounds with JiffyLube, etc. horror stories. Service writer finally got to me and asked if I was waiting. Then he announced it would be 4 HOURS before they'd get to me. I was pissed. I had made the appointment 2 weeks earlier. Needless to say they didn't get my business. Jiffy Lube did. Here are the caveats; I get an upfront price for labor only to change the oil, I bring my own Mobil 1 oil, bring my filter with me and sit in the car while they do the change. I can watch them opening my oil bottles. I don't use their oil, or Ford's for that matter, and I definitely will never use Jiffy's oil filters. I keep the receipt to prove the oil change was done. Get your Mobil1 at Costco when it goes on sale or the 5 gallon jug at Walmart. There is no oil change on the face of the planet that is worth $159 to me. Not to mention, they rip you off with an extra fee for the 0-20wt because they claim it's super special. Only to the dealer. Lincoln wanted over $200 to do the service! Never going to happen. I have tire rotations done at America's Tires, where I bought them. Good service, prices and they'll re-balance the tires when they rotate them for free. I also get a military discount there. Engine oil filters, engine air filters and cabin air filters come from Amazon, as did my FOMOC spark plugs for $28.00. First time it took me 35 minutes to change them. 17MKZ3.0TT Posted July 6, 2022 Share Posted July 6, 2022 Since I also own a Ford E350 Econoline, I've always had them do my oil changes and routine warranty service when my AC was underperforming. They mail regular service coupon brochures to where I've always paid under $100 for an oil change. They also do tire tread depth, rotor thickness and other routine inspections, which get entered into the car's service record to be accessible by any Ford/Lincoln dealer anywhere. I'm satisfied.
