Molinski44
Hey folks - 2017 Lincoln MKZ 3.0 here. I'm replacing my shot rear shock absorbers and while the process is fairly easy there is a note on the service manual stating: "Calibrate the suspension system. Connect the scan tool and carry out the Ride Height Calibration routine." Has anybody had this process done and is this something that can only be done by the dealership? Thanks in advance! leftoverture
You might try asking at the parts store where you got your parts. Sometimes they have the required equipment for rent.

Hi Molinski. Not sure what the process is. Does your Service Manual clarify at all what the calibration process entails? It may be able to be performed with ForSCAN software, but I am not sure. Perhaps one of our ForSCAN experts will weigh in. Otherwise, a Lincoln, Ford or competent independent shop would probably be needed. Let us know how you make out and good luck. drolds1
This tech didn't mention it other than to say he didn't think it was necessary to remove the ride height sensor from the control arm since he didn't move it that much. Of course, we don't know if there were any ill effects after the car was put back into service. This guy definitely says it's a necessity and that he performed the recalibration off camera using his own scan tool. In addition, see this thread.
