2013 MKZ Ambient Lighting

Recommended Posts

OK I tried asking is in another section and the thread got derailed so bear with me as I try again.

I recently noticed that the Ambient Lighting setting are not working correctly.

If I choose the Dark Blue from the display, they show up as the Green. If I choose the Green it shows up as the Dark Blue.

They have recently changed many modules in my 2013 and I think it was because of that but I am not sure. I had a 2014 loaner and it worked properly is that vehicle.

Do any of you that have a 2013 MKZ have a minute to check yours out and let me know if yours works correctly or not.

Here are some pictures showing what I am seeing. Thanks for your help

Tell them whats up. It sounds like software, and yes, 2013 was a new model year. It should be quick if you have an appointment.

Yeah, it's all software/firmware issues.

If you want to really see my issues look at this post

heading back down today for another part that came in, I'll see if they can look at this again (ambient lighting)

Ask your service representative to reference TSB 14-0175:

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

My ambient acts crazy sometimes.  It is a 2013 and sometimes the Ambient will stay on while driving.  Sometimes it changes color.  When you open a door the lighting on that door is red.  Sometimes it will stay red after you close the door and the rest of the ambient is a different color.  At this point it doesnt bother me too much because it looks so damn cool but I am thinking it may get old especially if it worsens.  I have only had the car for a couple of weeks and am planning on taking it in for the deck lid not power closing.  I am planning on mentioning this as well as the fact that I do not think the key fob is communicating the memory seat correctly, and occasionally the collision warning goes off for no apparent reason.  I just checked my system information and I have the version that ends in 13171.  Is the update available for owners or is this a dealer thing?  I love the car.

As an FYI, it's supposed to turn red when you open it. Cars on the road behind will see red indicating caution/stop. However, it shouldn't stay red once you've shut the door.
