Thanks guys. Just realized my username was my first name. Didn't want that lol. This forum setup is way different than the Camaro and Mustang ones. Need to get used to it.

BTW, do any of you know about performance air filters, and how they relate to this vehicle in particular? Reason I ask is because I was told filters like K&N and whatnot are not a wise idea because very fine particals and such can mess up the turbos. Any truth to that, or is it like any other vehicle in that regard?

Personally, I've used the K&N in some motorcycles after head work and rejetting, needed a little more airflow to get the full advantage. No way I'll be doing anything but OEM for the air filters-car has plenty of power for it's intended purpose and the real key to top power is avoiding low octane gas if top hp & mileage is the goal. IMHO, the ~400HP we already have is about all the OEM suspension can really handle if ya get adventurous in zig zag'n.

Thanks you for the responses. I've done a lot of research, and no way am I messing up the turbos or whatever for maybe 2 hp if I'm lucky. Filter that was in the car was some weird paper one with a foam pad attached to it. I just bought the original OEM Motorcraft one instead

BTW, that's the color I wanted, but I finally gave up when a dealer an hour away had a black one with the 3.0T and Pano roof. Had 19" wheels that I'd have traded straight up for your color gray ?

Nice. I do like the grey a lot, but black looks awesome on these cars when clean and well taken care of. Combined with all the chrome it's sweet. The pearl white, black, and grey are my top picks for this car

I think it was around 15 years ago when I swore I'd never buy another black car-they start to look filthy on the way home from the car wash ? I waited around 4-5 months for the local dealers to get an unsold metallic gray one in, since nobody wanted to talk price (and this was BEFORE covid) IMHO. I quietly put the word out everywhere for around 100 miles that I'd pay a $500 "finder's fee" for the right car, new or used, up to 10k miles. I just had to get used to a dirty car in winter, again.

Me too.  I had a black '75 Olds Cutlass Salon coupe with a full black vinyl roof.  It was gorgeous when it was clean, which was almost never.  A running joke in my family to this day is the time I started washing it one winter's day (which I still do by hand as long as it's above freezing) and it started snowing when I was half-way done.  I just kept going until it was finished.  Yes, I'm that crazy and everybody knows it.  I swore I'd never get another black car...until I got a black 1986 Mercury Sable.  I traded that one in for a white '89 Sable, and I've never looked back.  Haven't had another black car.  I'm too old to keep after one now anyway.?

Hi 17MKZ and drolds1. For me, it was series of 5 brand new black Mustang GT's, beginning with the 1982 model year reintroduction of the GT model.

And the same situation for me in my neighborhood. It was a running joke with the neighbors every time I would be out there washing the car, even in the dead of winter. They never saw a mechanized car wash.

No more black cars (or Mustang GT's) for me since the early 00's.

Ahhh...memories...lol

Last black car I owned was 2004 Accord. Since then I've had 2 Mustangs and 2 Camaro. Dark blue, and dark red were the colors. To be honest my dark red 2018 Camaro was almost as difficult to maintain as my my girlfriends black Impala Premier. Never would have guessed that, but besides scratches it showed dirt and dust just as bad pretty much. This grey hides stuff much better from what I'm seeing.

DrOlds, do you still have any Oldsmobiles?

Unfortunately, no.  Unless you count diecast models?. I have a '69 Hurst Olds and a '70 Cutlass Supreme SX.

Forgive me if this is a little off topic but here are a few pics of my 86’ 442.  Completely stock appearing but runs low 11’s with drag radials.

Very nice!  What's powering this beast into the low 11s?

After building 4 Oldsmobile engines for it I decided to get away from 60 year old technology and go LS.  So glad I did.  It now has a nicely tuned L92 (LS3) with a 4L80.  I retained the VVT and installed a Texas Speed cam.

That seems to be the way to go these days.

Only car I owned that is close was a Olds Delmont 88 had a 428 in it.... and that was when gas was 0.75

Also had a Mazda PU with the rotary engine.... used to race and beat the v8 camaros/firebirds...

I think you meant a 425 engine.  Olds never made a 428. Pontiac did.  The 425 later grew to 455.
