MKZinCT Posted November 4, 2021 Share Posted November 4, 2021 (edited) My 2015 MKZ Hybrid was diagnosed with a dead battery pack a little over 2 weeks ago by Ford dealer (used to be a Lincoln dealer, but now there are no Lincoln dealers near me). They have been unable to locate a replacement. My car is still under the hybrid components warranty, so going 3rd party isn't really an option. In any case, this seems like a Magnuson-Moss Act violation, but with supply chain issues being what they are, I'm not inclined to blame Ford entirely. What bothers me is the complete lack of communication from Ford about expected availability. Has anyone else out there had this problem with OEM battery packs not available? Yes and no. It started when I got a warning that said "power train failure. pull over immediately", and about 2 seconds later the car actually turned off and I coasted to a stop. I turned everything off, restarted (still had same warning), turned everything off again but this time I opened door to completely shut down every system. Then I started it back up and that's when it went into limp mode, which according to manual limits you to 35mph and is meant only to get you to a safe place to pull off road. I drove to a garage about 1 mile away that was conveniently owned by a friend of mine. It drove there fine, but there were a few lights lit up on the dash. My friend looked at it the following day and told me he believes the hybrid battery is dead or the charging system is dead (or both), but that I'd have to take it to a dealer for a thorough diagnosis.
