austin-tatious
The light came on and diagnostic code on my 2017 MKZ with the 3.0 TT engine is P04F0:00. Interpretation of this code is "Evap system high load purge line A performance". I do not find this discussed on the forums. Has anyone had this code? Does anyone know how many shop hours it takes to fix it? I'd like to know the time required so I know if I'll have to leave it with the dealer overnight or not. drolds1
If you ever want to see if a particular code is discussed in the forums, just enter it into the search box above and any pertinent discussions will come up. I did that and nothing came up. WRT how long this will take to diagnose and repair, it's difficult to say. There are a lot of variables here. Here's a description of the reason for the code being triggered and the possible causes for the code in a 3.0T: Quote I haven't showed the diagnostic "tree" but it's pretty extensive. This can be as simple as a loose hose, or it can get complicated, e.g., requiring the use of a smoke machine, etc. I think it's a safe bet that the service writer is going to advise you to leave the car and not wait. In my experience, unless it's routine, like an oil change/tire rotation, new battery, etc. you won't want to wait. You might come in early in the morning at sit there for hours before they even pull your car into the service bay. You're entitled to a Lincoln loaner for warranty work. What I do is make the appointment and arrange for a loaner for the afternoon before the appointment, drop the car before closing time and go home in the loaner. Is the car showing any kind of driveability issues? If not, this isn't an emergency.

Going to drop the car off and pick it up in a couple of days. As far as the loaner, this dealer is short of cars to loan. Nearest reservation available is several weeks. You should see their lot. New car lot is virtually empty and used car lot has maybe 30 used cars. You have a shop manual I presume? Thanks again!
drolds1
You're very welcome. Glad to help. There was a wait for loaners even before the pandemic. Yes, dealer inventory levels are at historic lows. A friend of mine just got his new c-class M-B after extending his lease on the old one that expired last March. I have a subscription to AlldataDIY. austin-tatious
Dealer fixed it under the CPO extended warranty for $100 deductible. They also fixed an oil pan leak they found under TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 2.7L/3.0L EcoBoost - Oil Pan Leaking 19-233204 November 2019. TSB says time to service for the 2017 MKZ is 3.4 hours which does not include one overnight crankcase drain and one overnight silicone cure. Only applies to 2015-17 ford and lincoln cars and SUVs. When you read the steps in the TSB it looks like it's really easy to make a mistake resulting in a subsequent oil leak. Contains 6 warning statements like this: "NOTE: Do not use Motorcraft® Metal Surface Prep Wipes on the replacement oil pan. Using Motorcraft® Metal Surface Prep Wipes on the oil pan will contaminate the treated oil pan sealing surface causing reduced RTV adhesion and a potential oil leak." Service advisor told me that fixing the purge valve required removing the oil pan anyway. And removing the oil pan requires evacuating and removing the A/C compressor plus removing the left converter. Amazing. austin-tatious
CARR142 on the other lincoln forum lincolnforums.com mkz subsection posted this in response to my query on this issue: The comments under this vid on youtube suggest it's only for the 17 ecoboost f150. How many 17 mkz owners have had an oil leak like the one I had? Edited October 21, 2021 by austin-tatious add question
austin-tatious
Well, after thanksgiving, while going down a long hill in CA in cruise control and sport mode, the light came on again. This time I went to one of the auto parts stores which loaned me their code reader which reported the same code, P04F0:00. When we got back home took the car to the dealer who diagnosed a different problem for the same code. This time a hose in the EVAP system (9G271) had come off, so they replaced the hose (which took a week to get in stock) and I now have the car back. How about that?
