leftoverture Posted August 16, 2021 Share Posted August 16, 2021 Dedicated snow tires will obviously perform the best, but a good set of all season tires will work well, too. I have seen folks on here recommend the Michelin Cross Climate tires, as well as Continental Extreme Contact DSWs. I had a set of Falken Ziex all seasons on my 2014 FWD and I was happy with them. He has high praise for the CC2 tires , and has two years experience with them in all weather up in Canada . I just put them on my 2018 Zh and drove about 300 miles on dry roads . My other tires were Michs. MXM4 . They are very close when driving on dry road , the CC2 score a 10 on quite and comfort while the MXM4 score 9 . The big difference will be on winter weather where tire rack scores the CC2 way above the MXM4 . If the CC2 does good in winter weather , I am talking about up to 5 inches snow anything above that is snow tire weather , then this will be the very best tire at this present time for all weather . 17MKZ3.0TT Posted August 17, 2021 Share Posted August 17, 2021 I have pretty much nothing good to say about the OEM 19" Michelin mxm4 tires, other than they keep the tires from touching the road (and they wear so fast they don't even do that very long) and didn't cost extra compared to going with NO tires.? Winter traction in Wisconsin ice and snow was OK, but I attribute that to the car's AWD. Since they wear out so quick, I suppose even that hurts in snow because they're liable to have less tread depth if folks don't really keep an eye on them. I can strongly recommend going the route I did-four 18" aftermarket mags with Blizzaks, purchased pre-mounted & balanced from Tire Rack. Save your OEM wheels w/whatever std. compound & tread you prefer for the warmer 2/3 of your driving and enjoy the winter tires in winter. Unfortunately, we live in a condo with limited storage space so having a second complete set of wheels /tires for both cars is not practical for us. Check out tire rack and hey will make recommendations based on what you type into the tire questions. I also do not have the tire space so I feel the Mich. CC2 will be the tire for me . I want the tire to handle snow up to 5 inches without sliding around my long driveway and in town driving . Like I stated I am very pleased with their dry road handling on par or above with the MXM4 , the winter driving will be the big test , but from what Viking has told us , they should do real good .
