Votesok
I have a 2017 MKZ. Someone manually shut my trunk, and now when it latches the left side of the trunk is leaving a fairly large sized gap between the top of the trunk and the side. Water could probably leak in. Is this a liner issue or something I can fix myself? Searches have yielded no fixes here or on YouTube. Any advice you have would be awesome. Thanks! leftoverture
I had this problem on my 2018 when I bought it a month ago. But I had the dealer fix it. They sent it to their body shop and it came back perfect. So yes...it can be fixed but I have no idea how.

Other than needing to reset the automatic trunk closure system, closing the trunk manually should not have caused it to have a problem afterwards (or caused it to close unevenly), so not sure why you ran into this issue. Have you tried following the reset instructions in your Owners Manual? Is your 2017 MKZ still within the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty or a LincolnProtect PremiumCare Extended Warranty? If yes, make a service appointment. Let us know how you make out and good luck. Edited August 14, 2021 by bbf2530
TomV
I slotted and shimmed (using washers) my left side hinge in order to get my trunk gap even on both sides.

My local Ford dealer (who does most things on the MKZ and my E350 van) has an in-house body shop, so hopefully I'm just going to be out some money; Unpacking this evening from a trip that involved 2 instances of valet parking & luggage delivery, my trunk suddenly doesn't line up on the left, it's ¼" high and ¼"straight back. I've got the tools to pop out the trunk liner fasteners with no damage so I did so to look for a broken or bent component and everything looks straight with no disturbed paint at any fastener like you'd expect if something slid. I have to conclude a bent bracket(s). I already have to drop the car off tomorrow morning to find out why the transmission is shifting like crap, so looks like I'm going to be unhappy for a while.
