Heated/Cooled seat problems.

I am having an issue with the cooled portion of my seats. When I turn it on it takes about 40 minutes before it gets cold and only the butt gets cold. The seat back actually gets hot. Anyone experience this or have any information they can share?

Hi kg. Is this with the 2018 MKZ you just purchased? Is it still within the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty? If yes, make a service appointment to have the issue properly diagnosed and corrected.

If you will need a complementary loaner, let them know when you call for the appointment. Most dealers have a limited supply of loaners, so they will need advance notice to schedule one for you.

There can be various causes of an issue like this, and no way to accurately diagnose it over the Internet...since whatever may have caused someone else's similar problem is probably not the cause of yours.

If any other MKZ Forum members have a better idea, I am sure they will jump in to help.

The seats are Ventilated, not cooled, so if you're turning them on right away when your car is hot inside, you'll be blowing hot air through the seats.  Wait until the interior cools down a bit before turning the ventilated seat option on.  And if you have the seats turn on automatically with the remote start, turn that function off, that only heats up the seat before you sit down.

My seat button says A/C  on them. They are cooled not ventilated. I know the are cooled because of how cold the "boys" get after about an hour. It takes 40-45 minutes before the butt starts to get cold but when it does it's like they have been put into the freezer. I end up turning it off because it is too cold even on it's lowest setting. The issue is it takes so bloody long to get to that point most drives are over before then. The seat back gets warmer when the cooled seats are turned on. Both the drivers and the passengers seat do this.

I am not trying to diagnose it at all and the vehicle is under Warranty. I want to know how common an issue it is. There is no TSB for it but that doesn't mean anything either.

Hi kg. Your original question was "Anyone experience this or have any information they can share?" I shared.

Now to your latest question of "...how common an issue it is." It is not a "common" issue.

Good luck.
