SYNC3 v3.4.21020

Recommended Posts

I updated Sync successfully but when I go back to the Lincoln website to upload the XML file as per the "Step 3 confirm update" instructions I'm greeted with the following error.  I've tried with both Firefox and Chrome so I fairly certain the issue is with the Lincoln website.

Upload failed. Please try again later.

Hi scn. If your MKZ's SYNC system settings show your current version is updated to v3.4.20210, and the XML file was on your USB, then it most likely is a problem with the Lincoln SYNC 3 update site. So try again later.

If you keep having issues, call the Lincoln SYNC 3 service number listed on the site, or call Lincoln Concierge.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Personally, I stopped doing that.  When it allows me to send it, it does not update their system.  and of course sometimes it just does not allow me to send it...

so I stopped doing it... your system will still work regardless.

The only thing that I see is that it just will not tell you there is an update, unless you go to the site and ask.  ?

Tried to download the map update

Could download instructions and license but not the map files

What should I do

Hi bnewt. More details/information might help. What exactly occurred? Any error messages? Were you doing this on a Mac or PC?

If using a Mac, try using a PC, if you have the availability. Some owners have had issues trying to download with Macs, but were successful with PC's.

Of course we can not know exactly what happened in your case, but these issues often come down to some minor user error.

Get back to us with more information and good luck..

I've been able to do it no problem... and I'm using a Mac

That is great for you. However, it does not help "bnewt'. So, to repeat..."Some owners have had issues trying to download with Macs, but were successful with PC's."

The fact that you had no problem does not change the fact that "Some owners have had issues trying to download with Macs, but were successful with PC's."

Hi bnewt. Again, Mac or PC?

If you did everything correctly, then it is possible there is a problem/glitch with the NAV maps website. Your best bet may be to contact Lincoln Concierge and/or NAV maps tech support.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I am running windows 7, & Fire Fox.

this is the site that I used syncnavigation.com

as I stated, clicking on the map file did nothing

the instructions & license worked properly

Would anyone have the NAV map phone number?

Hi bnewt. Okay, so the Mac/PC subject is a moot point. And using Windows 7 and/or Firefox is not usually an issue.

However, that is the wrong website for Lincoln vehicle SYNC 3 NAV updates.

Try this one: https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home

If you still cannot download the update properly, call Lincoln Concierge.

Keep us updated add good luck.

when it asks for the VIN make sure you are using the Vin for the unit (if it is different and has been replaced) and the other code is the one you have to scroll down the screen to see,  ESN.

when you are at that page, I will assume you get the active button to download the file(s) , if it is not active, double check your entries... OR, try another browser (Chrome, 2nd gen EDGE (that one is using the Chromium engine). although as was said, Firefox should work...

as far as the concierge # that is listed on the Lincoln app, and on the lincoln page when you have logged in.

already called Concierge.........they were useless

they transferred me to someone else & said that Ford offered no support for technical problems

they stated that the only way I can get the update now is to purchase

I asked why I should purchase a "free" update

Her answer was you are purchasing the usb stick, the download is free

I again told her, since it was their screwup they should send me the usb stick & download free

She declined

what a joke to spend that much for an automobile & have no support

I didn't even get the confirmation email, which supposedly would have let me try to download again

Hi bnewt. Quick question: What version of NAV maps is listed on your SYNC screen ("About SYNC") in your MKZ?

Sorry I can not offer you more help here.

Not sure why you could not download the actual NAV maps file to  your PC. This is the first time I have ever heard of this issue.

The usual issues/problems have more to do with an error being made while trying to copy the files over to the USB stick, or owners pulling the USB flash drive before the update is complete etc.

Did you ask to speak to a "Supervisor" or otherwise ask to have your complaint escalated to the next level of support? Escalating the complaint will often get you further than only speaking to the first level of customer support.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Hi bnewt. Another option to ponder: If another member of the Lincoln MKZ Forum here...or perhaps a member from another forum you've posted on...can provide the ZIP file for the latest SYNC v3.4.21098  SYNC 3.4 NAV Maps update file to you. Then you would be able to follow the instructions to unzip and copy the files to a USB drive and use your license file to install the new update.

For simplicity sake, it would be better if it is a copy of the ZIP file that was freshly downloaded to their computer, as opposed to a copy of the files from a USB drive that someone already used to install in a vehicle.

You would not be pirating/hacking/doing anything wrong, or breaking any license/trademark laws, since your vehicle is entitled to the update.

I would give it to you if I could, but my 2018 MKZ is SYNC v3.0, not v3.4. So the latest SYNC 3.0 NAV maps file has not been released yet, and I also am not sure if the NAV map files for v3.0 and v3.4 are the same/interchangeable.

Again, just a thought on how to resolve this for you.

Good luck.

EDITED - To correct my "SYNC v3.4.21098" versus "SYNC v3.4 NAV maps update" error.
