tonyd2boys
I have a 2018 MKZ reserve 3.0T AWD.. looking for good replacement rotors/pads. Any suggestions? Thoughts on slotted/drilled vs regular. Thank you

Thoughts on slotted/drilled vs regular. Thank you Hi tonyd. Okay...here is the opinion of one person: The 3.0T comes with upgraded brakes. Unless you are road course racing your MKZ, there is no need for slotted and/or drilled rotors. Motorcraft or other OEM quality replacements for pads and rotors are fine. Slotted/drilled rotors provide no real world performance upgrade for normal street driving, and often come with downsides. Slotted rotors shorten pad life. Drilled rotors can have cracking problems, especially if you go inexpensive. I am sure others will jump in with their own opinions. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. kramf411
While the OEM rotors/pads are fine, I have replaced mine with R1 Concepts - slotted and drilled rotors/ ceramic pads. I wanted them for looks but I also found them to have better braking power than OEM. I did read about cracking on this type of rotors but I have not experienced any on the 3 vehicles I had replaced them with. My longest experience with them was about 80k+ miles 70/30 city/highway driving on a previous vehicle with no issues. I logged about <15k miles now on my '17 3.0 AWD and still going strong. Good luck in your search.
leftoverture
It really depends on what you want. If you just want to replace worn parts and you are satisfied with OEM performance, then OEM parts or parts from your local NAPA store are fine. If you want upgraded performance and appearance, the options are numerous. What is your objective?
tonyd2boys
I don’t do any racetrack driving. I do get on it a bit on the highways and in the city it’s constant stop and go. I do like the look of the slotted rotors as well

Good luck in your search. I ordered the r1’s. Pads/rotors. I’m hoping I did not make a mistake as the reviews I’m reading about the horrible customer service and getting the wrong items is horrible.
