Pano roof repair issue

Recommended Posts

Need some input here. First, the piece between the windshield and pano roof is not fitting correctly. Dealer I purchased the car from replaced the piece but it is still not lining up correctly. On close inspection you can see gasket is not lined up correctly. Took it to new dealer who says, essentially, there's nothing we can do. I asked them to take a second look. Has anyone else had this issue? How was it resolved?

No the strip is misaligned. Why I don't know. Repair originally done by dealer I bought the car from. After poor repair job, I brought the car to another dealer 10 minutes from home vs the dealer that's an hour away. First they said they didn't want to touch it because they thought they might only make it worse! Plus, because work was first attempted by another dealer they were also reluctant to take it on. I got the Concierge involved and they told dealer yes it would be covered and I told them not being able to repair it was an unacceptable answer.

It's going back in next week. We'll see what happens.

It's a 2017. I'm a little disappointed/concerned that technician initially threw hands in air and said he/she couldn't fix it.

At least they understand their shortcomings and are willing to admit they have exceeded their capabilities.

Maybe you should have the dealer's body shop guys look at it.

Personally, I think it's for the dealer to decide. If I were the car's owner, I'd be talking with them about what nice Lincoln they were going to pull off the lot for my loaner, and suggest they not call me until my car was fixed. Then perhaps look into my State's lemon laws to see if there's a certain amount of days I should be counting down before FOMOCO has to cut me a check for my car. Assuming I can make a valid case that the car has a defect that must be repaired and was under warranty when brought to the dealer, I'm out of it. They can give me a loaner and they should go find some smart/skilled people to take over for their people.

Got a call from the SA that the roof part was back ordered and wouldn't be in until the 19th. I reminded him that I already had an appointment on the 19th to bring the car in to have the rust at bottom and sides of doors repaired and that I expected they would have the car for awhile so the b/o shouldn't be an issue. Also, they will pick car up and leave a Lincoln loaner. Once they do that, they can take their time with roof and doors.

Now figuring out how I can get them to repair/replace misaligned ashtray door.

Hi shtaka. Hope it all works out.

Concerning "Now figuring out how I can get them to repair/replace misaligned ashtray door". You simply show the problem with the "ashtray door" to the Service Writer and ask for it to be corrected, if possible.

Sometimes a small component like that can not be fixed/replaced individually, and will require a full console replacement. If that is the case with yours, you will need to make a decision as to whether yours is bad enough to have them remove/replace the entire console, possible causing other issues/squeaks/rattles etc. Not saying it will happen, just that it is a possibility.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

That sounds great. Hope it all goes well.

If by 'Astray Door' you mean the forward storage area on the center console, then it most likely can be adjusted.  Mine didn't align perfectly after the dealer had it for detailing, and they were able to adjust it back to nornal, which I didn't have much faith in them doing correctly.

I will ask about adjusting it. I thought it curious that the SA told me it was an $800 part as if that was a factor in deciding to repair/replace. And, as far as I can tell, the prices he was looking at were for a Black Label, which my car isn't. Similar parts for my car are about $140! Again, not that it matters.
