Brake maintenance mode on MKZ Hybrid

Hello everyone. I know there's a lot of info how to put Ford/Lincoln with EPB into maintenance mode. However, they're mostly for cars with a physical key. Does it work the same way with a push to start button? Is the procedure the exactly the same except instead of turning a key on off I need to push on and off the button while depressing the gas pedal and the pushing park brake button?

Hi Anjey. Being the weekend etc, it may take some time before someone posts full instructions to enter "maintenance mode", so in the meantime...you can find the instructions in the Owners Manual if you need them right now. If you do not have your hard copy, you can download the PDF version here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/parts-service/resources/owner-manuals/

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Yes, Anjey.  It works the same way.  Just substitute the directions using the key with pushing the start/stop button, which turns the ignition on in the same way a key would by turning it to the 'ON' position.  MKZ SM:

NOTE: EPB ( ) service mode is also known as EPB ( ) maintenance mode.

NOTE: Cary out the following service mode activation procedure to deactivate the EPB ( ) system.

  1. Set the ignition to ON.
  2. Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB ( ) switch to the RELEASE (downward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB ( ).
  3. Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds . Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB ( ) switch.
  4. NOTE: The EPB ( ) system will be deactivated, preventing parking brake application until service has been completed and service (maintenance) mode has been deactivated. The yellow EPB ( ) indicator will be illuminated and Maintenance Mode will display on the message center.

NOTE: When replacing rear brake pads in service (maintenance) mode, the brake caliper piston must be compressed into the caliper housing. The brake caliper piston does not have to be rotated while compressing the piston.

Set the ignition to OFF then release the accelerator pedal and EPB ( ) switch.

Deactivation

NOTE: Cary out the following service mode deactivation procedure to activate the EPB ( ) system.
