Interesting how the Fusion is considered mid-size and the MKZ is in the 'compact' category.?

Ha! I missed that.  That is funny since they are truly the same car in many ways.  Truth be told,  I read many more good owner experiences for the MKZ and many more bad ones for the Fusion. So I'm surprised to see the Fusion even make the list.

That was what I was thinking, I never thought of my Z as a compact

Well... we have a BMW 2 series also,  so I'm living both sides of the coin. You are correct though,  this is JD Power's ranking for the first 3 years of ownership,  or about 36k-45k miles.  I buy used cars so I'm more interested in what happens from 35k to 150k miles.
