Very disapointing mileage for Michelin tires (245/40 R 19), very disappointing for any tires. I do not drive my cars hard and i rotate about every 4,000 miles. I would expect better tread life that what I am experiencing. What is your experience on your 2013 or 2014 MKZ? Any suggestion for a tire that would get better mileage? hortonkm Posted July 4, 2015 Share Posted July 4, 2015 I just got mine back from 15K service. RR tire is below 3/32 and it is 4/32. The front tires are fine. Am I the only person here who thinks a tire rated for 45K miles for $250 should last longer than 15K miles? If the front are fine perhaps the rear end is mis-aligned. I bought the car new and it hasn't been crashed. Anybody have any thoughts on whether I have some recourse if the rear end came mis-aligned? jimflutes Posted July 5, 2015 Share Posted July 5, 2015 hortonkm , Yea same with my Miches. on my 2013 Zh, after 26,000 miles they were down to 4/32 . I just took them off and had the Perilli P7 plus a/s put on. These are rated 70,000 , I will be thrilled to get 50,000 on them . They are a perfect tire for the MKZ , they are the top rated a/s in its class , even ahead of the new Miches. (tire rack rating) They ride smooth and quiet. Of course we should get more and you can fight it out with the Michelin company and probably get somrthing back , I did not feel like going through it. BlackPano Posted July 6, 2015 Share Posted July 6, 2015 I cannot speak from experience, however, while searching for a used mkZ I came across several that had their tires replaced or needed replaced with 30k miles or less on the car. BlackPano Posted July 6, 2015 Share Posted July 6, 2015 I assume so. I just found it odd that so many I looked at had the tires already replaced. I'm not fully up on the tire options for all the years. I could ask my dad for clarification on it (works for Lincoln) but it does seem the tires are getting less life than they should. I should also note I was looking at AWD only, so if anything happened to one tire (damage or premature wear) they would have been pretty much forced to replace them all. What air pressure are you running in your tires? I run 35 PSI summer and 40 PSI in winter months. It really helps tire longevity and improved mileage. Posted this in a different thread so I just cut and pasted it here... Just replaced the Michelin MXM4 OEM at 30,000 on my 2014 MKZh with the Cinturato Perilli P7 Plus in a 245-40-19 for under $900.00 installed. I can say without a doubt that they are super quiet and smooth on the road. Maybe the Michelin had gotten a bit noisy with the wear, but it was a noticeable difference between the two tires and I'm very happy with my choice. As a 6k mileage update on the new tires and am SO happy... it's such a nice ride and so quite. I'm not sure I remember what the OEM's felt like new, but it was/is such a noticeable difference between the worn OEM's and the Perilli, it's almost like a new car. One note, the Perilli can be a bit difficult to get balanced correctly, so don't be shy in going back to have them adjusted. Kauffman tire gave me that warning and I did go back one time for a small adjustment on the front right, but since then it's been smooth like butter. I have not had to get them reblanced , they are very confident in all of my driving conditions , but I do not drive in a spirited manner. How are the P7's holding up? I drive ~20k a year and don't want to replace tires yearly. 50k is reasonable to me, and I may pick up a set of winter wheels&tires. Tarheel6521 Posted January 2, 2017 Share Posted January 2, 2017 I have the 2014 MKZ that came with the factory Michelin Primacy MXM-4 19" tires. At 39,900 miles they are toast. 2/32s" at the wear bars. I took the car in for balance and rotation due to excessive road noise and got this bad news...especially bad since the lease is up in May (and I'm turning the car in to the dealer). IMO, the 14 MKZ fell way short of being an actual luxury car. Too much cheap plastic inside the cabin and sheet metal that dings if you look at it sideways. Obviously, production and engineering for a $40K+ car needs to come back to the US from Mexico. I'm having the local tire store put on BFG G-Force Comp-2 A/S 19s as they are the least expensive tires that are acceptable under the lease requirements. Reviews are good aside from reports of excessive road noise - which I will endure for 5 months to save a few hundred dollars. From the myriad of complaints on the factory installed Michelins' I've found online, very few have made it the 55,000 miles the tires are warranted for. I will be filing a claim with Michelin to recoup a few dollars. With this experience with Michelin, I may never buy them again. My 57 cents for what it's worth. For the record, the MKZ is mostly engineered in the U.S. and the Hermosillo, Mexico plant consistently has among the highest, if not the highest quality auto plants worldwide. Along the way Hermosillo has garnered awards like the "Best Automotive Plant in the World" in terms of quality from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology while increasing production to three shifts, six days per week. Along with the Nissan Aguascalientes plant and Silao, Guanajuato's GM factory, Hermosillo is considered one of Mexico's crown jewels in terms of producing quality vehicles, said Manuel Molano, adjunct director of the Mexican Institute for Competition.
