No more Oil Life reading on Lincoln Way app

I just noticed that my Oil Life reading is gone on my Lincoln way app on Android. I have a 2017 MKZ. Recent changes was that the App was updated a few weeks ago and I also got an oil change from the dealer ship a few weeks ago too. I'm not sure which action got rid of it. Do I need to do something in my car? Fuel level, location and tire "monitoring" are all normal.

EDIT: I've come to the conclusion that all 2017 Lincolns on Android no longer have oil life readings. I'm guessing all vehicles based on everyone on a facebook group that had a 17 MKZ or Conti and using Android phone had no oil life. I don't know if the 2018 vehicles that have the reading here are using iPhones as they work from all I asked.

I didn't even realize there was an oil life reading in the app.

I knew there was an update and during those times the app was somewhat quirky. When I open it, there was always a "can't connect to vehicle" error and when I start the vehicle, the graphics circling around the start button keeps going on even when I am already driving.

It's all good now.

Hi esqueue. When I just checked my LincolnWay app, the oil life indicator was also missing. However, once I pressed the "Refresh" button and allowed it to update, the oil life indicator returned.

As others have stated, these types of issues usually seem to be random glitches that fix themselves. I find it sometimes helps to force close the app and reboot my phone. Not only for problems with the LincolnWay app, but for problems with other apps as well.

Give it another try and let us know how you make out.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I tried refreshing, force closing, restarting and even clearing the app data from the phone but nothing seemed to help.

Hi esqueue. If your car is not in "Battery Saver mode"...and the LincolnWay app still will not work properly after a re-installation, forced shutdown, reboot etc. etc., then my best advice would be to call Lincoln Concierge.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

My car is 100% in battery saver mode ?. Do you think that is the cause? The car starts great but the BMS hates it and it goes in power save mode the second  turn it off. My APIM also occasionally resets my ambient light to off and I get the harsh sounds from the dashboard.  I definitely need a new battery but haven't gotten one yet.

Hi esqueue. While I can't swear to it with blind Internet diagnosis, that could be one cause. I know my LincolnWay app will lose certain features when in Battery Saver mode. However, mine will usually also lose engine start, door locking, tire monitoring etc.

If you know your battery needs to be replaced, might be a good idea to replace it before you are stranded. It may also save you the headaches of why other electronic and electrical gremlins are occurring.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

I tried the help (former concierge) button on the app and tried the chat option. While I got ahold of someone, there wasn't a send button so one way chatting isn't an option, I then used the call option and during diagnostic, they tried using my login info and the oil function wasn't on their device either. They said that the problem now appears to be on their end and I'll get an email or call from tech within 48 hours.

I also let them know about the missing send issue. Don't know if it is an Android or Galaxy s10e issue.

Hi esqueue. Just for reference: My 2018 MKZ still displays the "Oil life" remaining reading in the LincolnWay app on my iPhone.

Did you ever receive an update from Lincoln Concierge? If yes, what did they say? If not, I would recommend calling them back.

Let us know and good luck.

I guess this is somehow similar to the tire pressure monitor. All 2018+ displays them but only says "Monitoring" on the 2017 models.

It's a bit different as the oil life worked prior to their forced downgrade. Now it only works on 2017 models with iPhones. The exact tire pressure readings were never working on the 2017.

I called them again as you recommended. They went ahead and escalated the issue. I also emailed them a screenshot of the issue.  The latest Android version is 3.15 and according to the Concierge, they are aware of the issue of the missing oil monitor and the infinite spinning start button that never reports that your vehicle has started. An updated version 3.16 should be released February 5th or 6th, I forget the exact date I was told.

She also said that my modem's firmware is 3.9 and the updated f/w is 4.5 so they recommend that I get it updated at the dealership.

That is absolutely what's going with the Lincoln App when using it to start the vehicle. However, today, there was no longer a spinning button. No feedback at but the vehicle did start. Good to know a fix is coming.

I am assuming the concierge also said the firmware update at the dealership is free, isn't it?

She said that she believed that it is covered by powertrain warranty. I have an extended warranty so I'm good.
I got an email from Lincoln, it seems that the issue may not be repaired in the next update. The fact that they are aware and working on it is good enough for me. I'll paste it.

Good Morning.

I'm following up regarding the missing oil life concern within the Lincoln Way application.

The development team is aware of the issue, they were able to replicate the concern. They are currently working on a code fix for the Lincoln way application to restore the oil life functionality. The functionality should be restored in one of the upcoming Lincoln Way application updates. The next update will be in the first quarter of February, but I'm unsure if the code fix will make it into that release. Please respond directly to this email should you have further questions.

2 things:

1.   What is the 'battery saver' thing?

2.  What I've discovered about the spinning wheel on the app is that it goes off when the car runs past it's time to shut off when started remotely.  So, I'm thinking to the other poster who said it was spinning while driving (looking at your phone while driving?  Ummmm.) is I'm wondering if it was still spinning while within that remote start time window.  I have mine set at 15 minutes.  And my car does start remotely when using the app cause I have a camera in my garage and I check it to make sure it starts.  Why I use the app at all I have no idea.  Just as easy to use the fob.

1.  'Battery saver' in what context?

2.  I once checked the app from home to see where my wife was, and it was spinning.  IDK if she was driving or had remote started the car at the time.  Sure, you can start the car with the fob in your house, but the app works from anywhere in the world.    I've started the car with it when the fob was out of range or the signal was blocked by a building, etc.   You can also schedule a start for a specific time.

I sure do hope you open the garage door before you start the car remotely.?

No need to open the door.  It's a sieve.  Plenty of air exchange thru the door since they are 40 years old and are basically just hanging.  Unattached garage.

Yup, it was fixed the end of February sometime. Lincoln logged into my account on an iPhone and oil life was there then they logged into it on an android and it wasn't. It took only about a month from my phone call to Lincoln pushing out the fix. Not bad in my opinion, they had to fix the app and ready it for selling car insurance. TESLA is leading the pack they are offering or going to offer insurance and Lincoln needs to keep up. Now it I could use my phone instead of my key fob ths t would be a,axing
