Add Auto Hold Option to MKZ

Recommended Posts

When my 2016 MKZ is stationary with the Handbreaks activated and if I press the gas pedal the handbreaks will disengage by itself. I was thinking if there is anyway to make the car so that handbreaks will be activated once it is stopped  then this will be as if the Auto hold option is added.

Long story short, is there a way to automatically activate the handbreaks when the car is stopped?

Hi kelshaer. No, there is no auto enable option for the emergency brake/handbrake in that situation.

If you take a look through your Driver Information Center settings, it will help you understand the car and its many options and features.

Also, when you have the time, a flip thorough the Owners Manual will also help. If you do not have the hard copy, or just prefer to look through on a nice large computer monitor (as I do) you can download the PDF version here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/parts-service/resources/owner-manuals/

Good luck.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I know that there isn't an out of the box option to do this. I was hoping that it can be done with forscan or any other hack.

cheers

Hi kelshaer. Not to my knowledge is there any FORScan or other hack available.

Good luck.

I have the Auto Hold but I hardly ever use it.  If I have it engaged, I may accidentally tap the accelerator and the car will start moving.  I think it is rather dangerous because of the ease with which the accelerator can be touched.

Hi gang. I use AutoHold sometimes. Not often, but sometime in heavy stop and go traffic. When I do use it, my foot is nowhere near the accelerator pedal until I need to move again.

Guess my legs are lazier or more obedient than some, since I have no worries about one of them accidentally hitting the accelerator. ?

Just joking though. I do respect the right of all of us to have an opinion on what features are useful/helpful, and which are not.

If I had to give it serious thought (I haven't up until now): I don't find it dangerous to use. And at least for me, I certainly find it less dangerous than the chances of accidentally taking my foot off the brake, or having it slip off the brake, during numerous long stops in that type of constant stop and go traffic.

Good luck. ?
