After downloading the large NAV maps update file, you must download a license file that is tied directly to your VIN. Your can not update NAV maps without that proprietary license file. Lincoln vehicles are normally entitled to at least one free NAV maps upgrade. Have you gone to the SYNC 3 NAV maps update site and tried to download the update properly? Here is the SYNC 3 NAV maps update site: https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home In addition, there is currently a SYNC 3 update that should be available for your 2017 MKZ (SYNC v3.0.202041). There are other threads explaining it in detail, but the SYNC 3 update website is here: https://help.lincoln.com/update-sync/ Let us know how you make out and good luck. drolds1
IOW, you'd like for someone who has paid for an update to give it to you for free because you don't want to? As has been explained to you, there's a reason that can't be done. Edited December 6, 2020 by drolds1 rubyinla

I bought a $200-$300 Garmin a dozen+ years ago with lifetime updates included. Takes me 5-15 minutes for me to update it via laptop depending on the amount of new data, but a $50k car didn't have the margin built in to design and include an easily updated NAV that the dealer could do by plugging in the car during an oil change or new tires? Pathetic. They'd make more money (dealerships) by having more people bringing cars to the dealership for service they're taking to KwikenLoober, currently.
