hwitten
Not sure if this fits in here, but.... I received my cargo net kit today, from the dealer. Enclosed instructions are a bit old, only go to 2005 Zephyr, but I assume not much has changed. On the website, where I got the part number, it covered up to 2012. Anyways, looked like an easy install, except that the plastic hooks and the stud it's supposed to screw onto are different size. I'm going to ask if there are different hooks for the 2011 MKZ but thought I'd ask in the meantime if anyone has installed one or even has one dealer/factory installed. Maybe I'm trying to fasten it to the wrong stud. The stud I'm considering as correct has a plastic cover over it, which unscrews and is located up high on the trunk edge, one on each side, towards rear of trunk. The net is at: http://accessories.lincoln.com/cargo-net-envelope-style-9619.html Also got my mud flaps today, but they are plain-jane instead of with MKZ logo, but I think that one was my own fault. All in all not a great day.
drolds1
I had the same problem and my son is a Ford parts specialist. It doesn't fit a 2010+. Ford screwed up here. Either jury-rig something to make the hooks fir the studs or get your money back. I'll check with my son and se if they ever came out with the correct size hooks. I'll probably jury-rig something but want to make sure I didn't miss anything in those great instructions that accompanied it. This is the right attachment point? It's a real head-scratcher, isn't it? Those are the attachment points. I pulled the trunk lining out to make sure I wasn't missing anything. hwitten
Thanks. Makes me feel a bit better that I didn't miss anything. The parts guy at the dealership is going to double-check and if no joy I'm going to cut it close to the 'button' and then JB-weld it on to the stud. That should cover up Ford's mistake nicely. :)

That should cover up Ford's mistake nicely. :) I'd been planning the exact thing. I wrapped some duct tape around the studs in an attempt to tighten up the threads. That lasted for a while but it's not permanent. Great that we have to "fix" this ourselves, isn't' it?
hwitten
I was going to try and find a heli-coil to make up the difference. I might do that yet before JB-Weld. Will keep you posted, it's next week's project.
hwitten
Had a chat with my parts guy today and he seems to thing the attachment points I have in mind are incorrect. He made some sense as the net should be installed at right angles to the attachment to give it extra holding power and not straight on. He's going to try and get some more info from Ford. In the meantime I thought I'd ask again if anyone has the cargo net installed that could shed some light or a pic.
jldavis
The attachment points are on the side behind the plastic cover. I found it easier to remove the cover to attach the fasteners. If I remember correctly all the nets fasten the same way, at least on 2007, 09, 10, 11 and 12.
