DeviLSh
Hey all - planning a trip to the track tomorrow and will likely be taking the MKZ to see how it does. If anyone on here wants to meet up and take some pics/talk shop, figured id throw it out there. Great Lakes Dragaway in Kenosha/Union Grove WI. 5pm-10pm test'n'tune. Got a group of people going, hodge podge of cars but great group. Hopefully see you there! -devin Edited September 22, 2020 by DeviLSh

Blackhawk
Nice to meet you man, funny our wisconsin/il ecoboost group went the same day. That was probably the first time 3 MKZ were ever at the track at the same time. All running 12s

What was your best last night? I am still thrown how i went from a 13.3 to a 12.6 but ill take it! Can you by chance upload your best slip from last night? I want to see where we differ - I think i need to focus on the back 1/8th. Either shift point, heatsoak, tune, etc. That's where I seem to be falling off with 106-108 trap speeds last night. Being able to rule out DA and ambient by comparing to your slips will decrease variables for me. Loved your lip and having another magnetic grey out there with me ? I am sure we surprised some people on the strip with our 12sec hogs.
DeviLSh
Here is my night's summary - Run #3 was best, I think from run #3 and on, temps were in 63-65 deg range. My IAT was about 86-90 before each run if my memory serves. Curious how yours compares to these Dan, would love to armchair engineer / discuss haha. Mods: Torrie 93 tune ( no revisions), Steeda CAI, GFB DV+, Cpe RMM, UP FMIC. light weight wheels / Michelin SS 4S. Pulled spare and jack, and had about 3/8 of a tank of BP 93 oct (not sure what else I could possibly provide here beyond this) Edited September 24, 2020 by DeviLSh
drolds1
Amazing! Who'd believe it? I'm sure the reactions were similar to when my friend used to autocross his LIncoln LS and kick butt: "That's a Lincoln?" ?

I am sure we surprised some people on the strip with our 12sec hogs. I need to put my slips together but when you say you didn't "launch" in your spreadsheet do you mean you just left at idle? Because if so that is your difference. Brake boosting up to 2k does 2 things, gets you into the RPM band faster plus on turbo cars allows you to build boost before the launch so you have more power off the line. I'd lose a half second too if I didn't do that. I'd say you have at least a 12.5 in it with some playing around with launch rpm and tire pressure. My fastest was a 12.245@113.9, it was around 9:40 I think. I want to say 4 out of 7 passes were in the 12.2x area.

I think it is all the pump, it allows me to run e50 or more so the tune can be more aggressive. I was trying a different tuner last night but Unleashed has been solid for me for years now. I need to get me some lighter wheels, are you lowered as well? Your car looked great.

DeviLSh
Thanks for the slip and the video. Gonna digest that for a bit. Yes - no launch in my table above means basically off idle. I "exchanged" brake for gas simultaneously. I wanted to try both methods as it was my first time out with the car. I also had a bad experience trying to brake-boost at home one day. The car went into some sort of limp mode after I built some boost and let off. I thought I broke something. So I didnt want to experience that in my first two passes. Torrie said he removed the brake override feature but I didn't even bother loading that tune last night as I was able to get it to 2k and lift w/o duplicating that issue last night. It did make a difference no doubt, so did not staging for 30min before each pass. I am sure the fueling and tune are making for most of the difference between us too. I guess I thought my light weight wheels (11lbs lighter per corners) would account for more for me knowing how heavy the stockers are and how much of am impact unsprung weight has on acceleration/handling. Still happy with the car though no doubt. Yes I am on H&R's, and the wheels are 19x8.5" with a nice offset to they fill the fender well. Thanks for the compliments! When we going back? That's 100% the difference then in between your times. The car can be finicky with the launch, gotta find the sweet spot between no spin and spinning so much it wheel hops or cuts power. 2000-2300 work best for me but it depends on the surface too. The lighter wheels definitely help but I think it drops you like the equivalent of 160 pounds of weight which is like .15 in the quarter mile roughly. Your car is running really good actually especially for 93. Going to an e30 mix tune can help out big time, wouldn't be surprised if that dropped you another .3. When I was tune only with E30 I ran 12.7 but I didn't have an intercooler. Working on a couple thing but would like to try and make it back in the next few weeks.
