jm98
Got over 110K miles and it's due for spark plug change as dealer recommended service. Wanted to hear some feedback on spark plug changes at 100K mile services. Any misfire issues any hints? Is this dealer specific service or Napa can handle it? I just want it get done right so to minimize dealing with misfires and coil issues after service.

First...I would recommend the Motorcraft replacement plugs, not any new-fangled "Double Unobtanium, triple electrode, five prong super plug" replacements. Second...I would also recommend having a Ford or Lincoln Dealer perform the service, especially since yours is Hybrid. However, if you are looking to save money, I would recommend finding an established shop/tech in your area that you can trust (family/friends recommendations?), as opposed to a NAPA or other big box, oil change type shop. Again, especially since yours is a Hybrid and your Lincoln and Ford Dealers will be more familiar with any intricacies of Hybrid service. Let us know how you make out and good luck. I wanted to capture other owners experience with this 100K spark plug service at dealer (dillah).
jm98
One of the reason I bring this up due to I lost a good running Mazda MPV with Ford 2.5L 6 cylinder engine after Mazda dealer attempted 100K spark plug service. Misfiring after misfiring issues. Dealer changed coils after coils from just about all cylinders. Eventually vehicle developed a oil leak and other issues due to dealer service techs keep opening engine components and not putting it back to gather properly. i eventually had to sell the van for much less then trade value. Hi jm. No problem. I can tell you I had the plugs changed at ~100,000 miles on my 2007 MKZ, by my local independent shop. The reason I used them is they do excellent work for less than my local Lincoln/Ford Dealers. Had them use the Motorcraft plugs. Everything went well, car runs perfectly. And the car was out of warranty, so had no worries about warranty issues. For my cars still covered by the manufacturers warranty, I always have the work performed at my Lincoln Dealer. I realize my experience doesn't mean much, since my good experience doesn't offset your bad experience. Let us know how you make out and good luck. jm98
Well, I did have spark-plug service done last weekend and car has been performing okay so far. I have put another 300 miles and no issues. The performance seems to back to when car was before and currently happy with it. Hopefully no issues going forward. bigjailerman

My recommendation would be to use the Motorcraft replacement plugs specified in your Owners Manual. Good luck.
