Potential 2017 MKZ Hybrid Owner- Reliability Questions

Good evening everybody, I’m looking to purchase a 2017-2019 MKZ Hybrid, While I would love to find a low mileage black label in my price range max 21K, I most likely will end up with a reserve, I’m looking for a low mileage car with any color but black, and preferably not the ebony interior.  I won’t settle for any less than the reserve because I want all the major options, Luxury Package, Tech Package, Drivers package. I also want a panoramic roof, I have found some 2017’s with under 30000 miles fitting my prerequisites.

I live in San Diego so the car that I choose I am going to make sure it was registered here in California so it will qualify for the 15 year 150,000 mile hybrid emissions warranty which is rather extensive for Ford and Lincoln hybrids.

I currently have a 2012 Chevrolet volt and a 2009 Ford fusion, I work for a dispensary and I drive about 150 miles a day, 5x a week, I have searched the forums and I don’t see many write ups about long-term reliability Or potential problems, I am going to attempt to get a CPO but otherwise I will be covered by the 6 year 70,000 mile powertrain warranty and then the hybrid battery warranty of course. I take care of my cars very well and can do some of my own work, are there any known common problems with the MKZ as it Gets up there in mileage? Thank you for your comments I look forward to becoming an active member here

Hey, there!

Sorry I have nothing of use to you at the moment, but check this out! I am based in San Diego as well and just picked up a 2017 with 70k miles on it this week and plan to update my profile with problems that will come up over time.

Obviously (but not for granted), there have been no issues within the first 1k miles of joy rides this week. I work in collision repair so I am quick to spot this car has had a rear bumper replacement but nothing I'm worried about.

Some quirks I've noticed so far: the rear view mirror on the windshield rattles a tad until manipulated (rotated around), right front window auto-up isn't working but down is, and the door panels rattle in a few areas with semi-strong bass songs..... but I side with the car on this one, it's probably a designed deterrent to top 40.

Later I'll post more details on my nit-picks and solutions when found ?

Hey there, thank you so much for your reply.  Stoked for you in getting your new MKZ Hybrid.  I have not purchased mine yet.  I found one that I should have bought, 2017 MKZ Hybrid Reserve, Gray Metallic, Panoramic, Multi contour seats, Luxury Package-Full LED, Revel Ultima 20 speakers, Cold Weather Package, 19" Wheels, and inflatable seatbelts, tech package, it had a black leather interior which I didn't like so I passed, it was $20900 with 24k miles.  I wish I would have bought it as I cannot find one similar and I have been searching for months, so pissed.  Those options are hard to find apparently unless you get a black label.  I also wanted to make sure it was a PZEV car that was first registered in California to get the 10/150k battery warranty, and 15/150k emission related parts.  I am going to get one under 60k miles and buy the extended warranty as I have had major issues with my 2012 Chevy Volt and am going to ensure the MKZ has a long factory warranty.  I am hoping to find one soon with all the options I want which is all the available options lol. I wil update once I find the one, hopefully sooner than later.

Oh and my buddy has a 2014 Fusion Hybrid with 175k, exact powertrain and no issues so that reassuring, Enjoy your sweet new ride sir!!
