Frank
ok, so I have the factory key code card. I also have the previous owners code. However, I cannot get the previous owners code removed. I have used the in dash removal procedure. I have used the keypad removal procedure. The dealer wants $100 to remove the code. There has to be a way for me to do it or there is something wrong with it for not letting me delete the code. Also and this may not be related, The Lincoln Way app will not sync when my phone is plugged in. I'll take any advice at this point.

What procedure did you use to erase old personal codes? The procedure, using the door keypad, is outlined in your 2017 Owners Manual as follows (page 73 in the PDF version): "Erasing a Personal Code 1. Enter the factory-set 5-digit code. 2. Press and release 1·2 on the keypad within five seconds. 3. Press and hold 1·2 for two seconds. You must do this within five seconds of completing Step 2. All personal codes are now erased and only the factory-set 5–digit code will work." If you correctly followed/follow that procedure and still have an issue, you will probably need the Dealer to diagnose the issue. EDIT - Is your 2017 MKZ still within the 4 year/50,000 mile New Car Warranty? If yes, then any problem with the door keypad codes not working properly should be covered under warranty. No charge. As far as the LincolnWay app; I am not sure exactly what the issue is. LincolnWay is the app on your phone, Do you mean you can not get the LincolnWay app on your phone to connect to your MKZ? What procedure are you following to attempt to sync it? What are you looking for it to do that is not happening? How long have you owned the car and do you have the hard copy of your Owners Manual? Let us know how you make out and good luck. Edited August 16, 2020 by bbf2530
Frank
ok The procedure that you outlined here I have tried multiple times. the in dash procedure I have tried multiple times. the app works on my phone but when I plug the usb cord into the phone it won't connect with the car. by in dash I mean going through the general settings on the radio. there is a spot for door code setup and erasure as well. I will have to check the in service date of the car.

Have you looked through the demo videos on the Lincoln Owners website, which show how to pair vehicles and phones? They are available here: https://owner.lincoln.com/ Have you paired your phone to your car and allowed permissions for your phone to connect through SYNC? Is the cord the OEM cord for the phone or an aftermarket, cheap cord? Some cheaper cords will only allow charging of the phone, not a data connection. Does the phone indicate it is charging when you pug it in? Do you have the phone unlocked when you plug it in? Or alternately, plug it in and unlock the phone? Also, what phone do you have? Is it an older phone? The OS fully updated, etc? Hopefully your 2017 MKZ is still within warranty. Keep us updated and good luck. fusionff
When you say the previous owners code, maybe that's the factory code. I don't think the original factory code can be erased by us, only the added codes can be removed. I guess the dealer can change the factory code though. At least I think that's how it works. kramf411
Sometimes the Lincoln App is very finicky. If you have performed all the checklist provided by the folks here and still cannot get through the app, try: 1. Uninstalling the app from your phone then install it back. You may just clear the cache but uninstalling gives you a "fresher" start. 2. Perform a master reset of the radio 3. Resume pairing your phone with Sync Good luck. Frank
I have tried everything. I have the factory code which cannot be changed. I also have the previous owners added code that they added which I can't delete. The dealer will delete it for $100. So basically I've given up. Maybe I'll shop Cadillac.......nah!
