BLIS/Cross Traffic..Weird?

I thought I noticed something weird as I was backing up at my workplace's parking lot this morning.

I was still in Reverse and moving while a vehicle from my RIGHT was approaching. As the incoming vehicle continued to move, the cross traffic alert came off with a notice that a vehicle is coming from the LEFT?. I do not know what to make of it - maybe just a glitch.

Both vehicle are perpendicular to each other. I estimated the MKZ's sensor to be about ~45deg / ~40ft to the body of the incoming vehicle.

Sometimes mine works, sometimes not.    I always glance backward whenever I go in reverse.  It helps stretch out my back.

I know that when I back out of driveway and onto the road, every time I back out to the right, the alarm comes on telling me there is an obstacle on the left side of the car, when there isn't anything there.
