bbf2530
Hi gang. There is a new SYNC 3 Navigation maps update available. To see if it is available for your MKZ, go here and enter the required vehicle information: https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home EDIT - And on a related note, the SYNC 3 update pages on the Lincoln and Ford Owner websites have been updated. After inputting your VIN, the SYNC 3 update site now informs as to whether we are up to date, have any available SYNC 3 updates, lists the current SYNC 3 version number installed in our vehicle etc. It now also has links to other pages that clearly detail the instructions for how to update SYNC 3 via USB, WiFi etc. Far more informative and user friendly than before. Good luck. Edited July 10, 2020 by bbf2530
Multitask
I was able to get to 1-19 last week. Not sure of what quarter they are... I'm hoping at least the 3rd or 4th... ?
Multitask
I double checked, and I'm current. ? Don't forget that the ESN is the 2nd one, down the page on the screen. not the first one. Edited July 7, 2020 by Multitask

Robert Iggy Cerami
I purchased a Map upgrade for my 2015 because it was not set up for Apple Car play... But on my 17 and now my 20 anytime I need to use nav I just plug in my phone into the USB in the center storage set Apple maps and off I go.. Maps are a lot more informative and easier to use in my opinion (Also works with none Apple phones) Edited July 8, 2020 by Robert Iggy Cerami

Multitask
Interesting that when I checked the sync updates this time, I was presented with a page to look up my VIN (again) https://help.lincoln.com/update-sync/ Took me here... and of course with my VIN I don't have an update, but it knew that the version 3.4 19274 was my current update.... so at least it's better than just telling you you are current. ? bbf2530
Hi gang. Oh wow...that is great! They have finally updated the SYNC 3 update website to show the latest update version for our vehicle, along with what version is actually installed in our vehicle. A vast improvement over the old site, which only told us we were "Up to date", when it was working properly. I actually suggested/complained about that to Lincoln Concierge and the Lincoln SYNC helpline several months ago. Told them they, and/or the website, should be able to tell us what the latest version is for our vehicle, not just be able to tell us "You're up to date". I expressed my opinion that if they can not tell me what the latest available SYNC 3 version for my car is and what version of SYNC 3 is in my car, how can I know for sure that the information they are giving me is correct? The Customer Service Rep actually agreed. Perhaps enough Lincoln owners registered similar suggestions/complaints While I have no illusion that my particular suggestion/complaint had anything to do with the website update, I am certainly happy to see they finally updated and improved the website. You can also click on some of the other links on the SYNC 3 update page for detailed instructions on installing SYNC 3 downloads via USB, WiFi etc. So much clearer and more informative than the old SYNC 3 download website. ? This is good news. Good luck everyone. Edited July 13, 2020 by bbf2530 Robert Iggy Cerami
bbf2530
Hi again gang. I successfully updated my SYNC 3 Navigation system maps on a long drive yesterday. The latest version is NA 1 19 However, I would give the same warnings I have given to others on past updates: You may/will get a very quick notification (within minutes of beginning the update), essentially stating that the "Update is complete, remove the USB, restart the car..." etc. However...Do not remove the USB and do no restart the car, etc! The update is not complete. If you leave the USB in and wait about 5 minutes, your SYNC system will reboot and the "System Update" will resume and continue. This may even happen a second time. As the NAV maps website states, the update will take ~1 hour. Therefore, I recommend waiting at least 10 minutes after any "Update is complete" notifications before removing the USB and restarting your car, to ensure it is not another false notification. In this way, you can be sure the SYNC system is not going to go through another reboot and resume the update. Just be patient and assume it will take approximately a full hour. Hope these instructions are clear and understandable. Good luck. KenZ
MKZMark
So this is still January 2019 maps they're selling? I couldn't find the date on the sync website.

Hi MKZ. Short answer...Essentially yes. Longer answer...It seems they put out the NAV maps update after the end of 1st quarter each year (in my experience, ~ end of July, early August), and the update itself carries the maps information accumulated through the end of 1st quarter the previous calendar year. So in this case, the update number is NA 1 19, and it includes all updates through the end of 1st quarter 2019. Hope that is not too confusing. On an opinion note: For those who like to have their in-car Navigation system up to date but have to pay for the updates (as opposed to using their cell phone map apps): Perhaps think about updating every two years. Good luck. Edited July 13, 2020 by bbf2530
MKZMark
Thanks. When you have time could you check the map to see if I-95 north of Philly turns east as in the pic below, or continues north?
bbf2530
HI MKZ. Still wondering about I-95 there in PA, huh? ? Yes, I will certainly check next time I am in my car with a spare few minutes. MKZMark
