meckelberry
From what I have read within other forums on this site I am reaching out to left field with this one. I have a strange electrical issue currently in my 2014 MKZ where passenger windows, air bags, climate control and a few other electrical items that won't come on at the moment. The reason I ask about Intelligent Access Key is a response to someone else under another topic. I recently had my second key fob out and had used it because I couldn't find my usual main one. Thing is I found my main fob in my car later. These problems seem to have started on the same day or near. It may just be coincidence but has anyone heard of a similar issue. The dealership says it will be at least a week and a half to get in and without AC here in Ohio I am dying, plus can't even roll all of the windows down. Does anyone know how to reverse all of this or rest something to get all of my features back to my main key fob. Thanks in advance.

To my knowledge, as long as the car is starting, there is no issue related to the IKT fobs which would cause the "...passenger windows, air bags, climate control and a few other electrical items" to stop working. Also, not sure what you mean by the airbags won't come on? Are you referring to the diagnostic lights when you first start the car? You could try disconnecting your battery for ~10 minutes, then reconnecting it. That will reset some vehicle systems. Maybe you will get lucky. You may also want to have the battery checked (a complete load test). Modern vehicles are very computer/electronic/electrical dependent, so a failing battery can sometimes cause a multitude of illuminated warning lights and false alarms. However, it would be unusual for a failing battery to cause the power windows, climate control etc to completely stop working, once the car has successfully started. If none of those suggestions help, it will need to be addressed by the Dealer. Perhaps one of our tech members has more insight into this matter and will jump in with advice. Keep us updated and good luck. Edited June 8, 2020 by bbf2530
Multitask
Yea, I see the same thing... do you means the test lights at start up? Because there is no way to 'test' the airbags without getting into an accident. ? Could be the bulbs have worn out, fuse needs replaceing pulling the positive battery cable from the battery for about 10 minutes will reset everything and might help. If not, then a visit to the dealer or car shop (because its out of warranty) is needed...
meckelberry
As for airbags yes the test light comes on and stays on as if there is a problem. along with that passenger windows are unable to be moved, climate control is turned off ( I have attached a picture), thermometer is turned off. I tested both key fobs last night and you guys are right, no difference. In fact the car settings told me that both of my fobs are admin so I guess that can't be it. It has all stopped as of Friday. Some other information about this issue. This happened 4 times over fall and winter and each time lasted only a day or so. I took to dealership over winter and they said to bring in when everything not working. Took to dealer yesterday and they said it would be a week before they could look at it so I left. With the items I mentioned above is there any way to diagnose based on all of those items happening at the same time. grey screen.psd

Unfortunately, there is no accurate way to diagnose it over the Internet. In many cases like this, a failing battery is to blame. It will cause a multitude of warning lights and some other gremlins to occur, such a an airbag waarnikng light etc. This is due to the low initial voltage a failing battery will cause when starting. It does not allow all the startup checks to occur properly. However, I know of no instances where this will lead to inoperative power windows etc. (I forget, did you check appropriate fuses etc.) Perhaps one of our tech members will have more insight into this and will jump in. If not, a Dealer service visit will be your best bet. Keep us updated and good luck. Edited June 9, 2020 by bbf2530

Multitask
Not sure on that one... could be BMC if I remember right... if you checked all fuses, and it's still happening... glad it's at the dealer, they should be able to figure it out... and yes, diagnosis over the internet is not easy... especially when it's not a common thing. ?
