A new Stallion added to my stable.

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

After a 3yr. stint with my 2017 MKZ Reserve, I ultimately decide upon getting another MKZ, only this time around I bellied up to get many of the options I declined on my 2017 Lincoln Reserve model.

My 2020 Reserve offers both the Luxury & Elements packages along with the vehicle standard MKZ Reserve features, this as well as the optional 19" chrome wheels.

I had been pondering over whether to go for the 3.0 TT motor, but eventually convinced myself on another Hybrid model which had proven itself maintenance-free throughout the past three years not to mention its exceptional fuel efficiency.

I definitely feel the Revel ULTIMATE!,  (20 speakers) sound system was certainly worth getting, as well as the massaging front seats.

The moon roof offered was simply part of the lux package, as I don't particularly feel it's something I will get much use of to any great degree here in Fl.  however, the automatic rear window sunscreen on the other hand is definitely a keeper. Ha!

Living here in the Sunshine State I opted for the Tri-coat Platinum White exterior paint this time around in contrast to my previous model color Magnetic Grey, with once again the Cappuccino interior.

In conclusion, I'm somewhat sorry FORD Motor Co. has decided to move away from producing these sporty luxury sedans to concentrate on SUV's and such, but as they say,

"It is what it is".

All the best! & as usual, stay safe!

Congrats...

Things that you mention like the massage seats go with the Luxury package, but I thought that it also ment that you got the panoramic sunroof... but it does not look like you got it with that...

Oh well... like you said...

here is a hint I just figured out....

By putting in Regular gas (86 octane)  I was averaging about 38mpg, but now I'm putting in the next level up (89 octane) and seeing 43-48mpg depending on driving (so far)  Mine is the 2020 MKZ-H just in the dark blue and just the elements package)

Maybe other can chime in on this for a Hybrid

Hi Multitask. Our cars require a minimum of 87 octane regular fuel. So I am assuming it was a typo when you stated "By putting in Regular gas (86 octane)".

If it was not a typo, you should make sure you use 87 octane or higher from now on.

Good luck.

yes 87, but one octane less should not 'hurt' it...  ?

Calif is 87, the other states I traveled through were 88

You totally bypassed the meaning and content of my statement...

Hi Multitask. Oy vey. ?

Actually I did not bypass the meaning and content of your statement. I let you and others know that if it was not a typo, you should not use 86 octane fuel (which is what you typed). 87 octane is the minimum required by Lincoln/Ford. It is important information for you and others. If someone else reads your post stating you can use 86 octane fuel and follows your advice, they could damage their engine and run into Warranty problems.

And on top of that, I had decide not to point out that "premium" higher octane fuels do not increase fuel mileage. This is a well known fact in automotive circles, researched and proven by every expert automotive source. When people make anecdotal claims that premium fuel gave them higher MPG's, it is actually due to other variables, such as AUTO/AC use, differing traffic/driving environments, temperature variables, only a short term sampling, etc etc. But I figured why start what I don't want to become a silly discussion. So if that was the "meaning and content" you thought I bypassed, now you know why I bypassed it. And now it has been addressed. ?

And the Panoramic Moonroof was a standalone option (although it did require the "Elements Package"), not part of the the Luxury Package.

Do not take it personally if we correct accidentally erroneous information. That is part of what our job is here, because it helps everyone to have the correct information.

Good luck.

The information I put out is from personal experience.  Whether there is a report out there that says otherwise does not matter to me in that case.

This is why I put the better quality gas in my car (76/Union usually, sometimes Mobil or Shell) and will not put ARCO/USA in because it's not as good of gas  IMHO.

On my trip I found that the gas I had to put in was because my 'usual' was not around when I needed gas.  I don't know where these places buy the gas, but PILOT was not as good as LOVES.  The closest to 76 was Conoco (same company)

When I put the medium from Pilot in my car ran better and got better mileage.  Again, personal experience.

Experts are like navels... ?

The one thing that I was aware of that I did not know would make THAT much difference was that a Hybrid gets poor gas mileage in cold weather, I was getting 25 when it was snowing.... (my car said it was 33 at the time, and the elevation was about 8k... could have been the snow, could have been the altitude, I was using cruise control so it's the same driving method.  If I'm ever in that same situation, I will see if the next level up of gas helps with that... I'm going to say it won't, but then I have been, and could be wrong.

Hi Multitask. Actually...experts are far rarer than "navels", because everyone has a navel but not everyone is an expert. ?

Information that does not matter to you may matter to others, and that is what the MKZ Forum is for. ?

There's certainly something to be learned from what you say, bbf.   : )
