ESCO Posted May 6, 2020 Share Posted May 6, 2020 Hey everyone! I'm new to the Lincoln Family I recently purchased a 2016 MKZ Black Label. I have a question about the audio system. I've been reading up on the factory system and it's specs as I am a true audiophile and have always went aftermarket in past systems. I feel this car's factory system has a lot of potential but one thing I've noticed is when I'm using my Bluetooth device as where pretty much all of my audio content is now. It seems to lack the volume that the other sources have such as the HD radio and USB inputs so my question is do we have a way of adjusting the source level input for Bluetooth devices in order to get a stronger signal to the unit without the volume maxing out. I do not use Bluetooth device connection on my 2018 MKZ (other than my phone auto-connecting), so am not completely familiar with the ins and outs. However, on my older MKZ, it was recommended to turn the volume up on the Bluetooth enabled device being used, then use the vehicle volume knob to adjust the listening volume. If the Bluetooth device volume is set too low, there will be insufficient volume available in the vehicle. So perhaps you have the volume set too low on the Bluetooth device you are using? Also, to adjust the volume of the application being used at the moment, you usually need to make the volume adjustment while the application is speaking? For example, to adjust the volume of the NAV system voice prompts, you need to make the volume adjustment with the volume knob while the NAV unit is actually speaking. Again, just a blind Internet guess which most likely will not apply to this situation, but the best I can come up with. Let us know how you make out and good luck. Hey thanks for the reply yeah I think it's most likely just how those units operate on the Bluetooth source because I have a 2013 F250 also with a similar Sync unit and it does the same on that source I was just trying to find a way to not add external amplification if I didn't have to. JimF Posted May 6, 2020 Share Posted May 6, 2020 The Bluetooth volume on my phone defaults to mid-level (50%) when I connect to either my MKZ or my F-150. You're not adding external amplification, you are taking away attenuation. It's best to put the source up to full volume then use the car volume control.
