kseckel99
We have a 2013 MKZ with the Dune colored leather seats. I've noticed a color problem on the driver seat (I am by myself 99%), about where my pants belt is, my lower back area. Anyone else seeing this? Just got home from dealer and they are ordering a new seat. Car is 1 yr, 3 days old and this shouldn't be a problem. I'm thinking of buying a set of sheepskin covers so I don't have to worry about this. Will probably lose the AC in the seats, but with sheepskin this shouldn't be a problem. Any comments/concerns? Thanks, Keith
SteveB_TX
How often do you clean and condition your seats? These seats require extra maintenance due to the leather being so nice and soft. Did you not receive the package in the mail from Lincoln containing a sample cleaner and conditioner, as well as a letter explaining this issue? KenZ
The easy fix would be - don't tuck your shirt in? :) I would agree with SteveB_TX, you need to be a little more maintenance oriented with the lighter colored soft leather seats. In my last car (Acura), it had Taupe colored leather seats. Being from Georgia, we have a propensity to wearing red shirts. After a couple months, I noticed they were turning my seats a light pink. Ultimately, I needed to clean the seats every few weeks with a leather cleaner and conditioner. I never liked black interiors, but I figured with the AC seats, it would offset the heat so I got black in my MKZ! No pink seat problem! Didn't know I was suppose to. I do have a very good cleaner and conditioner that I use about once a month. I thought it might do the trick, but nope. Dealer tried to 'clean' it also, and no luck. Am leaning towards a sheepskin covering. This FL heat is always here, well, 8 out of 12 months anyway. Thanks
hermans
I have both an MKZh and FFH with the Dune interior and never received a "kit" from Ford or Lincoln. I think this was a pretty hit-n-miss thing. I use Armorall leather cleaner and Mother's conditioner. Works great. drolds1
I got samples of cleaning products with my 2010 MKZ, the first year they used Bridge of Weir leather. I didn't get anything with my 2012 or 2014. What they sent and recommended was Leather Master cleaner and conditioner. I've been using it ever since and I'm quite pleased with it. Dye transfer to light-colored leather is a common problem, especially with auto interiors. Leather Master makes a specific product for removal of dye transfer. hortonkm
My wife leaves blue denim color on the outside driver's seat. I also have Dune leather. In my case it wipes off (the blue, that is, not the leather ;)) with a damp cloth. I have previously used Chamberlain's Leather Milk on the seats, so that may affect the ease of wiping off the blue. LINC0LN
Hey, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that the discoloration gets fixed soon.

This forum often receives e-mail asking about this kit, probably due to topics like this where some people receive a kit while others do not. 1984Poke
I just noticed this very thing a couple hours ago while vacuuming out my '13 MKZ-Hybrid: a gray discoloration, at about the belt line, on the driver's seat. After reading the other posts that followed, I ordered the Leather Master Dye Transfer Cleaner that someone else recommended, and I will let you know how it worked (or didn't) once I receive the product and make the time to use it. Wish me luck.
R2D2
Does anyone know the color code for the Light Dune leather interior. I am looking for a touch-up pen for the color of the leather I am seeing color wearing off at/near the seams of the drivers seat. And yes I use a cleaner/conditioner regularly. Thanks
SteveB_TX
The color code is shown on the sticker on the drivers door opening. :)

Thanks The color shouldn't be wearing off on a 2013. Why do you want to be messing around with a touch-up on an expensive car like this? Register a warranty complaint. Jim Ayres
I saw this problem on the "date night" car that I had for the weekend. I pointed it out to the person arranging the date night because I didn't want anyone to think that it was I who ruined the leather. She said that she didn't want me to take the car like that, so we went to the service department to have the detailer clean it before I took the car. He wasn't able to get it off. Now that I have my new 2015, I keep a white towel over the seat. Not very pretty, but it keeps the seat clean.

Mine is a very light tan color (I guess that's Dune). The car is an '08 with 62,000 miles on it. No discoloration.
