Nathan Posted April 18, 2020 Share Posted April 18, 2020 I am trying to bleed the brake fluid, and need some help and advice here. First the way I bleed is, fill the reservoir full, hook up a Motive power bleeder with 5 psi pressure, then open the tip to let fluid out. I also refill the reservoir before it runs down so I know no air will go in. I did it with another car ( not Lincoln) with no problem, not seeing a single air bubble coming out from the tip. But it doesn't go well with my 2011 MKZ. There are small air bubbles flowing out continuously. Just I can't believe how much air inside. For a single wheel, I have flushed at least a quart fluid but there is still more. Have I done anything wrong here? Hope some experts can give me a hand. Many thanks. scn101 Posted April 22, 2020 Share Posted April 22, 2020 Are you starting the bleed process at the RR corner? Ensure you start at the RR, then LR, RF, and finally LF corners. I don't know if you have rear integral parking brake calipers but if you do, you need to apply and release the parking about five times before you open the rear bleeders. Nathan Posted April 26, 2020 Author Share Posted April 26, 2020 Thanks scn101. Yes I started with RR, which had air appearing but after a while stopped. Then I continued with LR. There the air never stopped. Eventually I gave up and switched to the traditional method. Instead of applying pressure from the master reservoir, I have my wife step on the brake while I open the screw. In that way, I didn't see any air, and finished quickly.
