OBDII Link for FORScan

Mine is the Bluetooth one... worked fine in my FFH, haven't plugged it in the MKZ-H yet.

Hi Multitask. My understanding (not firsthand knowledge) is Bluetooth adapters can not access all FORScan functions.

If you have a link where yours can be purchased, post it here so other interested members can research Direct/Cable versus Bluetooth and decide.

Thanks and good luck.

Here is the info page I got the information from

http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=4573

It listed the USB and the BT ...

I would have to check, but I think I bought the USB, and it didn't work very well (could have gotten a bad one)... so I got the BT, and it worked for what I wanted....

Hi Multitask. Thanks for posting back with the link. It will certainly help others interested in using FORScan.

Good luck.

This was the reason for the link that I posted.  The one mentioned on 2gfusions was from a 2016 post, and it really was iffy how it worked.  So OBDLink manufactured the one in the link in the very first post of this thread, specifically for ForScan.  It works very well.

Here i one I wish you could add... a way to know what 'mode' you are in .... Sport - Normal - Comfort ... I tend to leave it in Comfort... and switch to Sport for the more curvy roads...

Huh? Does your instrument panel gauge not show your driving modes? Unless I'm misunderstanding something.

It should be Blue when in comfort. No color when normal, and red when in Sport. Even should have the words "Comfort" and "Sport" on the instrument panel. MKZ should definitely do this from the get go, no FORScan modding needed.

Maybe for the MKZ, but I have a 2020 MKZ Hybrid so no colors on the dash.

Guess Ford didn't want to confuse the Hybrid users on color....  ?

Same Instrument hardware so its definitely capable. I don't know the exact Asbuilt location to modify for it to be enabled on a MKZ Hybrid.

Though sounds like they're just trying to keep it in the "green" range being a hybrid owner. ...Or just overlooked it cause of that thinking.

it's not though.... my hybrid has the center  as the Speedo, and on either side are displays... left for fuel economy, right for what Sync mode I'm looking at... Entertainment, Nav, etc...

I believe the regular MKZ has Spedo on right, Tach on left, and details in the center... and that is where the 'colors' would be... maybe the Tach too

Hi Multitask. I realize Owner Manuals sometimes have incorrect, or not updated information. However, the 2020 MKZ Hybrid Owners Manual shows your transmission select buttons as being PRNDL as opposed to non Hybrids having PRNDS.

Sport mode and Low mode have distinctly different parameters and behaviors.

So with that in mind (and having not driven a 2020 MKZ Hybrid myself), what transmission select buttons does your MKZh have?

In answer to your question, I have PRNDL (L=Low, although my 2018 FFH could go as fast as 60 in that mode.. .though I don't recommend it... I did it by accident getting on freeway)

But that is not the 'mode' I was talking about... I'm talking about the selection of Sport, Normal, Comfort, on how it handles.  ?

Hi Mt. Yes, I understood what you were asking about. I was checking the 2020 Owners Manual to see if I could find an answer to your Comfort/Normal/Sport question when I came across the transmission button information. So figured i would ask about what buttons you actually had.

EDIT - And as an FYI: After looking through the Owners Manual and seeing that your current hybrid has no S button (replaced by a L/Low button), it also appears the hybrid does not have other handling/performance settings and features available, which are part of the conventional MKZ's Sport mode.

But then again, you get much better fuel mileage than the conventional engine MKZ's and have various settings that conventional engine MKZ's don't. Two different buyer demographics, so two different setting menus.

So I guess the moral of the story is: The different menus and menu options are probably why your MKZ hybrid does not have the dash readouts and color changes for the Comfort and Sport settings. ?

Good luck.

For a pretty detailed read on what may work for MKZ mods by Forscan, the Fusion Forum has a 145+ page thread found here:

http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=4573

There is a lot of cross use between the Fusions and the MKZ, but like all things, you pays yer money and you takes yer chances.  Best to do a lot of reading, methinks.
